That would be quite the lineup!!! 😮
I’m a huge Yes fan, so I’m with you on Wakeman. Unfortunately, I would probably pick mostly Yes members 😄
Bass - has to be Chris Squire
Drums - for me is Bill Bruford
Guitar - let’s go with Roger Fripp on this one. I love Steve Howe, but I am pissed at what he has done to the legacy of Yes
Vocals - who else? Jon Anderson. This is going to be a prog band. If Jon needs an occasional break, I would use Bowie or Winwood.
Keyboards - the aforementioned Rick Wakeman, with close second to Keith Emerson!

@OldBrit No famous drummer? I like the idea of getting friends to join, but I was thinking of all members being famous, like the line-up I suggested.

@Bewilderbeeste but Dave was Neil Peart, Phil Collins and Chris Slade all in one. Trust me he might be largely unknown but truly worthy of the place.

		Interesting question.
Here's my perfect supergroup:
Mike Stern, lead guitar; Marcus Miller, bass guitar; Phil Collins on drums (oh yes!); Chick Corea, keyboards; Kenny Garrett, alto saxophone; Erik Truffaz on trumpet.
Wow what a live concert that would be! 👍🏽

I would choose Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
That would be my perfect super group.

From the mid-1970s, an unfinished novel I was writing:

"This is the moment we've alll been waiting for. You are about to see history in the making. Calling themselves The Nazgul, for this once in a lifetime gig together, would you please welcome on stage: on drums - Mr Keith Moon of the Who; on bass guitar and violin, Mr Rick Grech of Family and Blind Faith; on rhythm guitar and harmonica, Mr Blind Owl Wilson from Canned Heat; on keyboards Mr Pigpen McKernan of the Grateful Dead; on vocals," and here his voice went up an octave, "Mr Jim Morrison and Miss Janis Joplin! And on lead guitar - Mr Jimi HENDRIX! They are - The Nazgul!"
A once-in-a-lifetime appearance was what Stu Roscoe had called it - but was any of them aware of the Grim Reaper waiting invisibly in the wings? This divine bill would read in retrospect like an obituary notice compiled by Satan.

Jimmy Page on guitar.
Richard Wright on keyboards.
Aphex Twin on beats.
And Lee Scratch Perry on general vibes.
A mixture so wrong that it must be right.

@helenS Most of today's music means absolutely nothing to me. I still listen to old rock music because it's proper music played by real musicians.

The closest thing to a clean recording of the drumming style couldn't be located but anyone alive in that era will probably vouch.
