The artificial, sickly, Disney-esque , pseudo-sentimentality of the supermarket slush... no, no, thrice no!
Some pop songs - maybe, but very few I soon forget, and I'd not miss them.
Religious music? Now here's a curious thing.
I am not religious and tend to the non-Christian rather than Christian side of the turn-of-the-year celebrations; but do find a lot of carols, and services like the annual broadcast Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, from King's College, Cambridge (University chapel) very uplifting.
Similarly too, I enjoy the annual round-Europe shared broadcast of mainly-religious, some folk, Christmas music from maybe ten countries in turn; run by the European Broadcasting Union and transmitted in Britain by BBC Radio Three.
Some. But not the ones like, "I'll Be Home For Christmas". Haha not the sad and dramatic ones, no! Or a very sad Perry Como Christmas song. 😂😂😂 Just no. No can handle. Haha and for that reason I don't listen to Christmas songs much, unless I happen to hear one's that are joyful.
Big fan of Christmas. Music especially. Hearing certain songs triggers the smell of pine needles and childhoods by the tree.
This was always on the record player Christmas Eve---and still is:

Agreed on Elf. Will Ferrel is a turn off in the role as a giant santa's helper.
All the classics are ok though: Charlie Brown's Xmas, Rudolph, The Bishop's Wife B&W with Carey Grant, It's a Wonderful Life, and A Christmas Carol--Alistair Sim
@MellyMel22 😅Thank goodness. I totally get it though, I can't stand any xmas songs by Boney M...don't ask...or till recently, that 'Simply Having a wonderful xmas time' 😖 🙉
Stores take the joy right out of Christmas. They don't even let us get past Thanksgiving, and they've got trees and ornaments and gifts out. It really dampens a person's spirit when they do that. It's way too commercialized.
I always found it joyous and uplifting...because I used to love to sing.
My brother had an Album of French Christmas Carols...very old ones...very beautiful. I used to fudge the words, and didn't always know what they meant, but I still loved singing them.
Un Flambeau, Jeannette, Isabella
Il est ne le divin enfant...and so many more.
My father used to belt out "Adeste Fideles" In Latin, imitating his father who used to sing it with a weird nasal accent....and I used to love singing that, too.
@calicuz Actually it is a song about organ donation. He had his heart transplanted into someone but then someone in even worse health needed a heart so it got transplanted again.
When he says something about next year giving it to someone special - What is going on there is there is this r3tarded guy who needs a heart so for next christmas he is going to donate his heart to that guy with Down's.
@MellyMel22 I’d sing you Christmas carols. It would be a great time. ♥️ I promise I’ll only sing short verses every now and then when the feeling is just right.
I like Christmas music and movies, but only after thanksgiving has passed. I hate the early commercial sales pitches and pushing when it is not even anywhere close to Thanksgiving. This rant was for folks in the United States, because I have no idea what it is like in your native countries with your traditions and religions.
I love the Rat Pack's Christmas music. My favorite Christmas song is Bing Crosby's version of Adeste Fideles. He sings the first verse in classical Latin!
Actually I do! I drive around in my Infinite coupe with the windows down blasting Bing Crosby Christmas 🎄 tunes… gets a lot of attention let me tell you 😀
@MellyMel22 lol...., thank you very much... 🎵 I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.....🎶 you better watch out you better not cry...🎶 silent night..holy night...🎵🎶😁😘
Yeah, it’s a family tradition to put on some Christmas music and make hot cocoa while we decorate. I guess I also put some on during the Christmas foodz.
Yeah, I don’t have Xmas music playing 24-throughout the holidays lol I only play it when we’re doing family stuff because it sets the tone for what has been a happy ritual @MellyMel22
there are a few songs i like in their original versions, but most blow. the real problem is that there are 100 versions of about a dozen or so songs and so you hear the same songs over and over and over. drives me mad
@SW-User I get so mad when they start putting those on demand early on lifetime cause it’s the only movies they have nov to Jan 😡
SW-User
@MellyMel22 yeah i know dammit.....plus they started Hallmark Christmas movies in September!! My mom has been in heaven. Thats all that will be on tv when we see my family for thanksgiving.....but, perhaps i might surprise her and find a horror flick to scare the pants off her!! 😜😂
