Can you imagine if someday this was in your garage…

Instead of cars ?

DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Just think of what else could be done with that type of technology.

Kidnappings would be the least of the crimes.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Vin53 then how do neutrinos pass through the earth? Neutrinos basically are energy which is a type of matter.

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy"!
Vin53 · M
Are they able to be collected and reformed into an original model?

@DeWayfarer
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Vin53 collect... sort of. They are detected. Yet they are not the only things that can be the means of such transportation.

Muons and quarks are similar.
Matt85 · 36-40, M
They need to get on with this. It's 2023.
Vin53 · M
They haven't even got us to George Jetson. Hell, we can't even figure out how to kill the people we've designated for killing.
@Matt85
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
Pahaha... This is brilliant.
And exactly where we should be by now...
Frying ourselves to a million pieces and bring put back together... 😂

Omg could you imagine the trial runs/malfunctions?
What kind of insurance would you get?
Are there teleportstion jams?
@Mellowgirl Yes, as soon as people began using it, we’d see all the things that could go wrong.

Piper · 61-69, F
Sort of. Not just because of Star Trek or any other futuristic stuff I've seen or read, but because of all the things I wouldn't have imagined as a little kid...that have become reality. But no, I can't imagine that really happening in my lifetime.
@Piper I don’t imagine I’ll get to see it, either. But that picture is actually from a patent submitted in 2020. So one never knows. 😃
Ha ha! :D
I try to imagine it... the ability to record the exact 3D map of every atom and molecule in the body,
deconstruct it into pure energy (somehow keeping it all in one packet),
and recompose it in the exact same format somewhere at distance of around 384,400 km or less,
without regard for the speed of light.

What would it be like if there were traffic jams with this tech?
@hartfire Indeed ! I suppose there’s the potential for an entirely new set of things that could go wrong—
Remember "The Fly" ? 😳
Abstraction · 61-69, M
Beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life down here.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Abstraction That quote originated as graffiti sprayed on the wall of Powerhouse in South Melbourne in the early 1970s. And the wonderful thing was they misspelt it, 'inteligent'.
icedsky · 51-55, M
Very funny Scotty!! Now beam me down my clothes!!
Yeah....just need Scotty to operate it 😀
sciguy18 · M
I’ve been working on that for years...
Dino11 · M
Beam Me Up, Scotty!
I'd probably shoot them at impulse because wtf is happening rn 😶 then I'd go bring my cars back 😅
@ChiefWalksWith40oz Not the people. The device, a full body teleporter.
@bijouxbroussard oh shit that'd be cool 👀 but not very useful for traveling unless I have a portable teleporter to send me back home 😅
@ChiefWalksWith40oz The idea is, by the time they exist, they’ll presumably be everywhere. So you’d be going to a receiving device at your destination. When you were ready to return, you’d go the destination’s teleporter and it would send you back home.

Dr McCoy: Dammit Jim,man wasn't meant to have his molecules hurled through the universe
huskyguy89 · 31-35, M
So long as it isn't the holodeck..nothing good ever happens in the holodeck...lol
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
I'd love it. "The future has arrived!" would be my exact thought probably.

{@bijouxbroussard] 😆could be a blast long as you never end up with william shit actor in your garage lol
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
What is this from?

I assume it is some sort of time travel or teleportation. I have waited for either to be invented for most of my life. I already have extensive plans for either scenario. 🤣
@JaggedLittlePill Believe it or not, it’s from a patent submitted in 2020.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@bijouxbroussard Oh....,wow!
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@JaggedLittlePill I found one article ...going to look for the study!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2643332/Beam-Scientists-sat-teleportation-possible-transfer-atoms.html
I have to say, if transporter beams were invented, I would have the same level of skepticism as Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy.
