Liking shows and movies on Netflix is always a bad idea. Their reccomendations are all shit house after awhile.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Thevy29 Thank you.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@ProfessorPlum77 Sorry if my response sounded weird (Got a headache right now) Yeah, if my family weren't all logged into my Netflix account I'd have turned it off last year.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Thevy29 I understand. And, your original response was fine.

4meAndyou · F
I refuse to subscribe.

Early on, the platform aired a movie about little girls in beauty pageants being sexualized, and in the process of making the film, NETFLIX sexualized the little girls.

The Obamas are major stockholders, also, and the idea of supporting the Obamas makes me feel ill.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@4meAndyou I do agree with your point about the Obamas.
OverTheHill · 61-69, M
I already have Prime Video, and Paramount Plus, I don't need another streaming service.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@OverTheHill I understand.
SW-User
I use free movie sites. Newer movies than Netflix.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@SW-User Thank you.
Adroneandastrain · 46-50, M
I wish they had MORE old stuff!! Like from the 1880s to 1970s

Generally I think they have a good amount of series worth checking out.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Adroneandastrain Thank you.
I like it.

I don't mind the older stuff, often i prefer it.

Mind you, i went nearly 20 years without being able to watch what i wanted on tv......so its good i can get back to a lot of shows/movies i always wanted to see.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@OogieBoogie Twenty years?
Did the kids get priority? Your husband was adamantly opposed to sharing the TV?
Mindful · 56-60, F
Originally they were great. They seem to be struggling to find or create new quality series. Everything is so short. I have loved them up until now. I hope they spend more on news series/good content.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Mindful Thank you.
The biggest thing annoying me is that they use AI on some foreign-language content* to actually change the movements of the faces of cast members to appear to be actually lip-syncing if you select the English audio dubbing option (and likewise use AI to use the real actors' voices to recreate their dialogue in English, rather than doing traditional dubbing with real voice actors). The energy and water use needed for that must be ridiculous

And then the fact that they paid so much money to someone as useless and entitled as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is also ridiculous, naturally fees have to cover BS like that ... heaven forbid that this couple might not be able to afford to live in Montecito and have an unsustainble green lawn in drought-stricken California

* For the example, the first time I noticed this was with Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, it was creepy AF
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@SnickersDOM What does AI have to do with water and energy?
@ProfessorPlum77 well anyone who hasn't been living under a rock for the last coupel of years knows the extraordinary energy and water needs of AI datacenters (for power and cooling), especially for generating images, audio and video ... AI datacenters are a subject of elections at this point
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@SnickersDOM I did know that data centers were the focus of a lot of controversy. lately.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
I had it for a while. I stopped because I got tired of them canceling shows mid stream unfinished with no final episodes. I now will not watch any streaming shows until I see the network stand behind them and compete the story. Netflix creates far too many and bails if they don't instantly draw a money making audience. They have no foresight just desire for all or nothing success.
The lesson for this is ages old. NBC killed the original Star Trek based on bad ratings information. When it blew up huge instant in sindication they realized their mistake too late.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Gibbon Thank you.
TheRealBarbossa · 36-40, T
There's a few series I enjoyed watching and couldn't find elsewhere, but once I crossed them off my list I ended the subscription. Not enough variety on there.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@TheRealBarbossa Thank you.
Love it. But I watch a lot of foreign stuff which gives me almost endless things to see. Don’t know if I’d feel the same if I limited myself to English language offerings. A lot of those do seem old.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
Musicman · 61-69, M
I don't think Netflix is anywhere near as good as it use to be years ago. I don't like all the foreign content in a foreign language.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Musicman Thank you.
GoFish · 41-45, F
haven't been on it in awhile
GoFish · 41-45, F
@ProfessorPlum77 i thought they were making their own show series lately ?
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@GoFish To an extent. Some they get from other countries and dub in English.
GoFish · 41-45, F
@ProfessorPlum77 oh i see
Ghay… and they never put new stuff on..
GoFish · 41-45, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout they keep raising their prices too and some of their shows are disturbing
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
Iwillwait · M
Not a lot of solid content.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Iwillwait Thank you.
candycane · 36-40, F
i dont watch
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@candycane Thank you.
