Classic epic. The beautiful Ingrid Bergman's Ilsa paired with the hard-edged yet charming Humphrey Bogart's Rick in Vichy France during WWII. This poster is proudly adorned on my entertainment center's wall, and the DVD in my collection. My favorite scene is when Ilsa walks in to Rick's club goading a range of emotions still alive, well, and clearly visible on his totally surprised face.

Two different views on the same song (As Time Goes By) that two lovers once held in esteem - a pleasant memory for one while now just a distant and painful reminder of a love deferred for the other. I hum this song in the car sometimes.

The torch fading yet still held by Ilsa, but long extinguished for Rick out of survival during the war. An excellent movie about a love lost for some, yet a memory as fresh as yesterday's sunset. Enjoy!

@PatKirby I missed the first forty minutes but got to see most of it. I'll need to rent it!! I love that show too, with Judy Dench.."As Time Goes By". I thought of the show when they kept playing the song in Casablanca. Ty for the clips!

After seeing it I suggest you see Woody Allen's "Play it Again Sam". It's a loose parody of Casablanca. It makes you appreciate the original film even more.
Hey! There are some really great old B & W movies worth watching. But Casablanca is among the top. Try the “
Maltese Falcon” which features Bogart and Greenstreet and Lorre.
And if you watch these, there is a parody movie starring Peter Falk and a great supporting cast titled “
The Cheap Detective”. Hilarious!’

OMG I’m so excited for you to see this for the first time. I want to come over and watch with you. So many good characters and one of the greatest endings in the history of film.

It is pretty good.
“Here’s looking at you kid” 💚
Leo Gorcey gets eaten by cannibals around the 17 minute mark. If you've a weak stomach I'd fast forward past that part.
