I also miss those times of three channels that operate from 6 a.m. until 1 a.m. but the programming was superior to the 4000 channels that operate 24/7 with a whole lot of garbage of today.

I want to watch classic movies and TV series like Lost In Space and Man from UNCLE.
SingleBHM · 56-60, M
@LadyBronte I don't have too much internet right now as I used to have during the lockdown.

When I do, I have found a streaming service named Tubi. It has a few good show and I have found one that draw my attention, Route 66. It is in black-and-white. I love from the first episode. I will watch more of it when I can.

By now, I download some shows from the internet Archive. Like Doctor Who. One of my favorite British sci-fi shows. Specially the years of Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker as the Doctor.

Salutes to you from Puerto Rico!
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@SingleBHM Tubi does have a large variety of programs. I dont remember Route 66 - I'll have to look for it. Thanks.
SingleBHM · 56-60, M
@LadyBronte I checked it yesterday and it is still there!

Have a good night.

Because anything is better than what is being put out! It’s sad that we have to pay for the decent, normal, movies! I feel that they are putting out all the negative stuff, so that we will have to pay to see anything remotely better than what is available! That’s to me is pretty greedy.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Bellaluna123 Ugh. Yes. The older movies appeal to me more than the newer ones. In fact, I've been watching a lot of old black and white movies lately. There are so many good ones. I recently watched North by Northwest - a classic for sure, but somehow, through the years, I'd never managed to see it before now.
Sapio · 51-55, M
I think most streaming sites try to rope you into a monthly payment for premium service. I agree with your decision. And I understand where you are coming from with having all these channels and nothing to watch.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@PatKirby The next in line, taking the place of the wise old coyote when he was short. Much like Thorton taking the place of the old boss that died. Not sure, but my take. Thorton was seeing his own situation in the wild. You?
PatKirby · M
@LadyBronte
Exactly my thoughts. He was seeing his boss die in the first shooting, irrespective of his neighbor doing the killing and there was nothing he could do which brings it close to home. Billy Bob symbolically representing the second coyote comforting the fallen coyote and taking up the position to keep the company alive.

Kinda like life. There's always a sacrifice.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@PatKirby Yes! I agree!
bowman81 · M
The short answer is because there are those who are willing to pay for them. They are in business to make a buck.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LadyBronte Sadly you are correct. The difference these days is that colonial powers used repatriate wealth from the colonies to the mother country, to further their expansion and the society at home..Now in these global times, the corporations farm the local population where there are. So Americans are exploited by American owned global businesses😷
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@whowasthatmaskedman Perhaps, but with the internet and digital banking these days, most of our US based streaming services, as well services based in other countries, are available in Australia and across the globe. I think the greed is affecting us all no matter what nationality we are.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LadyBronte I completely agree. It exists here. From what I can observe, the difference might be that the culture of consumer success seems to be more deeply ingrained into the population in the US than is some other places. We tend to view our "tall poppies" with more suspicion and we sure regulate them better..😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
I know a few movies like that.. And I resent paying for the movie that I can only watch as long as I keep my stream going. So I started buying used DVDs of anything I want to see, usually for a couple of bucks more and I own the thing. Google is your friend..😷
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@whowasthatmaskedman I have purchased a few that I really enjoy, but I hate to have hundred sitting around gathering dust in a cabinet.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@LadyBronte They make good coasters too😷
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@whowasthatmaskedman Well, there is that. 😆
masterofyou · 70-79, M
Welcome to the club, and sometimes you have to pay for all thousands of channels and shows you don't want to watch....
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@masterofyou I have watched a few movies on you tube, but they seemed to be mostly b-rate cheesy movies with terrible acting and a worse script.

@masterofyou I am a fan of youtube for how-to videos. You just have to find the right one for the situation.
bookerdana · M
Its "coming" to Tubi tv They have a lot of good film,FREE
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@bookerdana I watch on my TV, not computer or phone.
bookerdana · M
@LadyBronte roku??
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@bookerdana It's a Vizio Zmart TV.
Late 80's/early 90's Rom-Coms always get top billing on platforms as "new" editions not to be missed, LOL.

Many are box office flops, with a cult following that somehow command a $7 rental or god forbid a purchase to own🤦‍♂ 💰💰

Ultimately, after scrolling all 26 letters of the alphabetized index; glazed eyed, a person is far too frazzled to make a selection.
We want our 4 channels back!
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@SethGreene531 Yes, The Brat Pack movies from the 80s are always "not to be missed". Lol.

Laughs. Yes, I actually do give up often and just pick up a book.
@LadyBronte Agreed. The coming of age sagas🙄...Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire...🤦‍♂

Yes, a book is always a solid go-to
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
butterflybaby75 · 46-50, F
I refuse to use any pay-to-view services.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@butterflybaby75 I love a good movie, so I do pay for some, but I'll not rack up bills on top of that.
calicuz · 56-60, M
That's why I refuse to pay for cable........ there's never anything on.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@calicuz I got away from cable and satelite services a long time ago. But it seems streaming services are going the route now too. 🤷🏼‍♀
calicuz · 56-60, M
@LadyBronte

Yeah, I think there's just too much content. Right now it's quantity over quality.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@calicuz Exactly. So much of the new stuff is junk.
$14.99 to buy on Apple. It was a financial hit. I would like to see it but I won't pay that much
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@FlowersNButterflies I can rent it for less than $4.00. But I'm stubborn. Lol.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
I haven't done a lot of looking, but I understand that Tubi is #1 by a huge margin, take a look on there.

If I recall correctly, Housesitter is a Disney title. Disney is run by the pitchfork dude with cloven hooves who dwells downstairs.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@PatKirby Me too! How can you not?
PatKirby · M
@LadyBronte

Mute is your friend. It makes the world a better place!
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@PatKirby Indeed it does! 😃
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
What upsets me is how much they want to watch the old black and white classics. 😠😠😠
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@LadyBronte That's because you don't live in Florida. Lol!!! 😂😂😂
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Musicman No, but my state is awful so.... And at least you have a governor who is worth something.
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@LadyBronte Yes we do! 🙂🙂🙂
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
I am currently subbed to philo and paramount plus just for my favorite shows
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
@LadyBronte if only these companies werent so greedy and would put most things on one platform.
PatKirby · M
@Moneyonmymind

I initially subbed paramount plus because they had beavis and butthead's latest shows, but turns out they got all kinds of good stuff to watch. Keeping it.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Moneyonmymind That will never happen.
