Why do streaming platforms charge for so many of the older movies that weren't even huge hits?

I decided I'd like to watch Housesitter with Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn again, but it is only available if you pay to rent. I've had that happen a few times lately with movies that I don't suspect were exceedingly popular. I could pay it. I simply don't want to. So on to something else. Funny, I could always find something to watch as a kid, despite having only 3 channels and that was on a good day - sometimes just 2! Now, I've got 4,000 channels and nothing to watch. Lol. Go figure.

I also miss those times of three channels that operate from 6 a.m. until 1 a.m. but the programming was superior to the 4000 channels that operate 24/7 with a whole lot of garbage of today.

I want to watch classic movies and TV series like Lost In Space and Man from UNCLE.

@SingleBHM Those were the good old days.

@LadyBronte I just remember how great was to watch TV in the 70s.

On weekdays, I used to watch a show in the afternoons titled "La Hora de la Aventura" (The Adventure Hour).

Mostly directed to pre-teens and teens, it showed a different series each day. There were shows like Star Trek, Lost In Space, Man From UNCLE, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, The Land Of The Giants, The Time Tunnel, The Wild, Wild West and many more.

On Saturdays, cartoons in the morning, Soul Train on midday and Roller Derby in the afternoons. And to close in the night, Quinn Martin's The FBI.

@SingleBHM I watched a season of The FBI files not too long ago. Had forgotten about that series.

@LadyBronte I don't have too much internet right now as I used to have during the lockdown.

When I do, I have found a streaming service named Tubi. It has a few good show and I have found one that draw my attention, Route 66. It is in black-and-white. I love from the first episode. I will watch more of it when I can.

By now, I download some shows from the internet Archive. Like Doctor Who. One of my favorite British sci-fi shows. Specially the years of Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker as the Doctor.

Salutes to you from Puerto Rico!
