But seriously, I do get that it's important to think of our own peace and tranquility in a world where we're being pulled in all directions with responsibilities and expectations. Sometimes it's nice just to shut off from all the noise and indulge in something rewarding. Yeah, it can often be materialistic or hedonistic, but ultimately it's a way of reaffirming that our happiness matters too.
I didn't even know it is a movement. But it takes growth to realize self-love is a thing and a necessity to becoming. To embrace and grow with the self instead of hating and ridiculing oneself.
But sometimes, humans are a sad bunch of folks. We do have these things called emotions and affections and the desire to be loved, all which can make loving oneself a hard task.
That self love and compassion is very needed, but not sold as a movement. So many things in our span of life in culture is expressed in how it can be sold. Is buying into a program about self-care and love, where you send $30 a month for a subscription to their wellness channel, self love? Can they teach you?
Is going to yoga, self love? Is listening to endless podcasts saying you should be this way, compassion or love?
I think it was on the right track, but it's become toxic. If you love and accept every part of yourself, then there's no room to improve. You stagnate.
@Shybutwilling2bfriends For me I feel better when I'm helping others. It helps me get over myself and out of my head. But..I only do if if I'm moved too, not because I should. It's a balance.
