Doing something productive. Idk what it is, but even something as boring as doing dishes or dusting makes me realize "alright, I can do more than sit around moping". Sometimes it paves the way to do things I really want to do, like cooking a certain dish or writing about something on my mind.
It's basically hijacking your own brain. Dopamine is a neurochemical associated with positive feelings and motivation, and in order to get your brain to start producing it, you have to start small. For whatever reason, the brain doesn't like leaving things incomplete, so when you get the ball rolling on something you can start making real progress in your life

Was diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder after years of trying to understand what was going on. A low dose SSRI has been very helpful. Just my experience though
Wiseacre · F
@Discerning glad to hear. SSRI has helped me as well..but side effects were awful at first.

@Wiseacre take mine at night so not so bad. And thank you!

For instant gratification I go and buy clothes.
Which is okay, except for my sneaker hang up.
I have like 3 pairs of Adidas sneakers that are really cool but I’ve never worn them out. They sit on a bookshelf with 10 other pairs of Adidas that get some use depending on which shirt I’m wearing.
I end up donating a whole lot of really cool clothes just because I have no more space.
For longer term solutions, maybe reading a book called ‘The Body Keeps the Score’

Well, you need to break the loop. People like to make it more difficult than it really is. Once you have identified you are literally living on a loop, the rest is relatively easy... still hard by relatively easy. Perhaps like you, it took me longer than most to recognize it. Once you do though, you can just stop the loop. It's all in your hands now. Seek God's help, but you need to actually break the cycle.

Depend on the situation or how bad I feel but oftentimes just a simple walk alone is enough to give my thoughts room to breathe & work themselves out. I always feel better after
Exercise and accomplishing something and prayer. But I have to fight just to function when I am really depressed. Sometimes nothing helps.
SUPERVlXEN · F
I try to force myself to think positive thoughts, eventually on the other side of something very depressing taking place.
