I had some anxiety recently after a quick forming tornado hit the city in February. Unfortunately I chose to drink caffeinated coffee and it was about 9 p.m. and couldn’t get to sleep until about 4 am. I have some sleep capsules with magnesium, melatonin & lychee in them and should have taken those instead or some Valerin, which is valerian root with passionflower and magnesium, that would have been helpful, it’s a natural muscle relaxer. Chamomile tea would have been good too.

@cherokeepatti Valerian root is a natural muscle relaxer?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@perceptivei Yes it is and Valerin (name brand) is a good combo.

You should try herbal teas like peppermint, chamomile and or sleeping ones. Also try using essential oils. Theirs ones that are really calming on the mind and can help with anxiety. Oils like lavender, chamomile, bergamot etc. you can use Valerian oil to help you sleep too. you can even buy already made remedies at stores like Saje, Escents and other other natural health ones. That’s what has helped me.

I feel the same. Want to sleep but it's only 7pm

I chew on melatonin gummies when I’m very anxious randomly when I can’t sleep on those days.
I also watch a familiar show that I’ve seen numerous times before as it’s my comfort zone to calm me down.

I deal with anxiety on a daily basis, so i have to be proactive with being physically active, eating well and I utilise strategies to help me cope as it doesnt necessarily truly go away.

Focus on my breathing. Try to focus on the room. Do what i need to distract my mind. Usually doing something with my hands works

I listen to iAwake meditations. They've got some effective stuff.

I tend to freeze or go into a tailspin straight for the crisis line.

I used some incense the other day. Citronella scent. It was relaxing.

I pretend to be someone else. Someone who isn't anxious. Someone who doesn't care.

@SW-User Same! But, that's after the inital anxiety has faded.

I look after me. I make space for myself - if I can, and spend as much time as I am able doing things I enjoy.
It sounds - and, I guess is - selfish, but put yourself first.
