Prostate cancer…

I lost one of my favorite cousins last week. He was diagnosed this time last year, and didn’t share the news with anyone but his wife. Unfortunately, as often happens, it was found too late. He survived so much; an honor student shot at 16 by a local gang member. Served in Fallujah, came home uninjured. Was a very well-respected teacher. But somehow, this was missed. R.I.P., Mike. I usually hear from him this time of year, but this time it was his sister with the sad news. 😞

I'm sorry for your loss...I've lost family and friends to prostate cancer, and part of the reason is that they often don't feel any discomfort in the early stages so it can be discovered when it's too late.
[@475592,DragonFruit] Thank you.
I am very sorry for your loss. Wishing you and your family time to grieve, time to remember the good times and time to heal. 😔
[@7972,RobinPhoenix] Thank you very much.
My dearest condolences. These things feel so much worse when it is close to a holiday too.

I lost a dear cousin a few years back to breast cancer and I, like you, was not aware of her illness. There is so much sadness in losing a beloved family member and one from your own generation.

Hugs x
[@406205,InOtterWords] Thank you, my friend. I’m sorry about your cousin, and it’s true- there’s something especially humbling when members of your generation start to die off. 🙁

I'm so sorry!😢💔I lost my favorite uncle to the same thing. He had the most beautiful pictures of hummingbirds, I would bug him constantly to give me one. He told me one day while visiting that a tiny albino hummingbird will come to the bird feeder. I didn't believe him until I saw it! It was much smaller than the rest and pure white. He said he never could get a picture of that one, while grabbing his camera it flew away. We would all laugh. 😊Now in the summer when I see hummingbirds, I say "hi uncle Don!!!!⛅🥀🕊️
[@364304,Peaches] That’s so beautiful. Condolences on the loss of your dear uncle. 🙁

[@328496,bijouxbroussard] I'm sure you have many happy memories too of your cousin.😔Hey, I didn't mean to go on and on about MY uncle and post such a big picture on your story. I'll be more sensitive next time if I shouldn't have. 🙃💐
[@364304,Peaches] Please, no worries. Beautiful story and photo. I appreciated it.

Sorry for your loss. My brother is fighting it too. It was because of him that I started the incontinence clamp business.

I am so sorry to hear . I survived prostrate cancer only because it was found in time.
[@744413,monte3] I’m so glad. That’s one of the things I keep hearing about it, that there are few physical symptoms until it’s too late. 🥺

So sad--I am so sorry. How old was he? Sadly, many men do not get these tests done, or do it when it is too late. I just learned a friend also is dying of prostate cancer.
[@8568,Docdon23] He was only 57.
Docdon23 · 56-60, M
[@328496,bijouxbroussard] too young...hold his loving memory securely in your heart
[@8568,Docdon23] Thank you.

I lost a coworker and friend from it in 2019.

He had battled it for 3 years.

He was my only friend at the office.
[@68716,JoyfulSilence] I’m so sorry. My cousin only lasted a year because it was caught so late.

My friend was still able to work until about the last month. Then he was out. I had not heard from him in a few weeks. I never knew how bad he was. Then he was gone.

We only talked in the office, so I had not known where he lived, his family, or where he had gone. When I found out he was doing bad I thought maybe I should go say goodbye, but then he died before I could reach out. I felt bad. The whole office went to his funeral.

It was so sad. He was nearing retirement.

Then Covid hit and now I hardly talk to anybody in the office. We have all been working from home.
[@68716,JoyfulSilence] I’m really sorry. How very tragic. 😞

That's pretty rough Bijoux, I'm sorry.

Sounds like he had a good run and as if he tried to live a full life from that information.

At least he no longer suffers. 🌹
[@1236915,enjoythestruggle] Thank you. He had a tough life but was a very good man.

my uncle 63 found out he has this a few months ago. His children grandchildren & wife are watching him die. We can’t even go say goodbye because he’s in Australia. My dad has known him since he was 11 he’s like his brother. It’s tearing him up. Cancer fucking sucks!

[@626983,dancingtongue] It’s good that you’re staying on top on things. I’m not sure my cousin even really thought about it. A lot of men don’t.
