Prostate cancer…

I lost one of my favorite cousins last week. He was diagnosed this time last year, and didn’t share the news with anyone but his wife. Unfortunately, as often happens, it was found too late. He survived so much; an honor student shot at 16 by a local gang member. Served in Fallujah, came home uninjured. Was a very well-respected teacher. But somehow, this was missed. R.I.P., Mike. I usually hear from him this time of year, but this time it was his sister with the sad news. 😞

I lost a coworker and friend from it in 2019.

He had battled it for 3 years.

He was my only friend at the office.
@JoyfulSilence I’m so sorry. My cousin only lasted a year because it was caught so late.

My friend was still able to work until about the last month. Then he was out. I had not heard from him in a few weeks. I never knew how bad he was. Then he was gone.

We only talked in the office, so I had not known where he lived, his family, or where he had gone. When I found out he was doing bad I thought maybe I should go say goodbye, but then he died before I could reach out. I felt bad. The whole office went to his funeral.

It was so sad. He was nearing retirement.

Then Covid hit and now I hardly talk to anybody in the office. We have all been working from home.
@JoyfulSilence I’m really sorry. How very tragic. 😞
