I am Rude. Or so my new cleaning lady informed me.

She put my new pillow on the floor, and when I told her that I have severe asthma, and I don't want my pillow on the floor, she argued that she had just cleaned the floor, and where else was she supposed to put it? I pointed out the empty chair.

I reminded her that I have severe asthma, and am allergic to dust mites, and that I don't want my pillow on the floor, and told her that she is just not thinking.

She said, "That's REALLY RUDE!!!"

Then she said it is obvious that I am not happy with her, (ya' think?), and said she was going to ask to be reassigned.

This was after about an hour of NO work, and arguments when she first started this morning, because I mistakenly believed that when you are done mopping a floor there should not be food on it and it should actually LOOK clean.

I had to call her work to get clear about their policies, and apparently filthy floors are okay with them.

There is something really, really wrong somewhere.

It must be me.

You’re in the right!!
4meAndyou · F
@Quimliqer Thank you!!! The cleaning service obviously doesn't think so...but that was great to hear!
4meAndyou · F
@Quimliqer You get best comment because you made me feel better. I may be RUDE, but I am RIGHT!!!

GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
She works for you. She should have been out the first time she argued
4meAndyou · F
@GJOFJ3 More reassurance!!! I am so glad I posted this. I feel better all the time. Thank you!
Teslin · M
Time for a new cleaning company !!
What "cleaning" company would approve of filthy floors??
4meAndyou · F
@Teslin That's what I said to the supervisor! I don't want to get sick from taking off my shoes after they have touched the filth on the floor in the kitchen!
Teslin · M
@4meAndyou
I don't want my pillows on the floor.
There are always other places to place them
4meAndyou · F
@Teslin Like the empty chair across the room. I mentioned that to her.
gdon39 · 46-50, M
It’s a simple request to someone who’s in your employ.

Personally I would not have tolerated a long discussion about it and I’m an understanding employer.

I would terminate her next time.
4meAndyou · F
@gdon39 They were probably looking for valuables. It's always a mistake to leave cleaning people alone in the house.
gdon39 · 46-50, M
@4meAndyou it’s crazy how you can be so considerate of their needs and pay better than standard wages and still be treated poorly. Ugh!

What do you think they were thinking about when taking private adult toys out of the bedside table and moving them around? It sounds unbelievable but I assure you I am serious.
4meAndyou · F
@gdon39 I have no idea what they might have been thinking, but they were clearly out of line.
Valerian · 100+, M
Try another company
Ask around, check reviews online, definitely leave this post about them online for them to regret! Use her name, it's not illegal!
In fact look for an illegal, pay them well and you'll be satisfied!
4meAndyou · F
@Valerian I plan to hire a private cleaner.
Valerian · 100+, M
@4meAndyou that's my suggestion...
Maid companies hire anyone, the people resent cleaning your nicer home, will steal, will half-ass do things... They don't want to be there they just need the paycheck
BeJeweled · F
Thats why I do my own cleaning because no one cleans better than me.
@4meAndyou you can also throw a moist microfibre cloth on the floor, (hang onto the bench if you need to), put your foot on the cloth, (maybe even have one under each foot) , and shuffle along the floor.

Yes...i kniwit sounds amd looks funny. But it works .
And you use a grabby thingy to pick up the cloths off the floor.

This actually works better than mopping, as your increased weight really pushes the microfibre into all the fine irregularities of the floor.

If its a big floor , have multiple cloths, and then throw them in the washing machine .

Cleaning with physical limitations needs to be worked around, otherwise it just hurts so much 🥺
4meAndyou · F
@OogieBoogie Actually I did something like that today, after Miss Useless left. I poured a bit of straight cleaner on the spots she would not clean, let it soak for a few minutes, brushed it THREE times with the broom brush, and then put a wad of paper towels down to sop up the excess cleaner. Of course then I decided I had to clean the floorboard, because if I don't overdo it's just not me...🤣🤣🤣. And I thought I got away with it till later when my spine started to spaz out in the middle of my back. At least that was a different spot than usual...🙄

I used my feet as I was sitting in the office chair to push the wad of paper towels around, and didn't even need the grabby thing as a corner was not wet or dirty...so I picked it up by that corner.

Only one problem...I managed to rip something in my wrist and hand that had more or less healed till today. So I won't be able to do more for several days till that stops feeling like it's ripped.
@4meAndyou that really sucks that you can't r do the things you want to do, the way yoi want to do it.
Why do our bodies have to betray us?
Life is challenge enough .

I hope your nexr cleaner is a good one 🙏😊
SW-User
No and no, its not you by any means!! Its shoddy work ethic and the company obviously sides with employees or cant keep proper help.
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User Thank you for your support and sympathy. 🤗

I got REALLY angry earlier when I wheeled my office chair into the kitchen, poured straight Mr. Clean on the black floor spots, and it only took three light swipes with my long handled broom brush to lift the spots and the dried on food.

But the start of our arguments today...NO scrubbing. Pfft!!! I couldn't even call what I did scrubbing.
SW-User
@4meAndyou I tell you....people are so rude, and obviously she didnt know how to clean for heaven sakes!! She was hired for a reason. Its your money shes getting paid with!! 🙏
Sepia · 36-40, F
Who the heck puts pillows on the floor??? If that was me..and she does it right before my eyes.. no more next days for her.
4meAndyou · F
@Sepia Well, I had to say something.
Cleaning is one of those professions that anyone can be employed in an have no idea of protocols, procedures, methods or even proper chemical use.

Some dont even know that a vacume cleaner neeeds basic maintenance.

And it pisses me off too. Rarely do companies train their staff, or check their expereince or knowledge .

Its bullshit .

In your particular case: anything used for floor cleaning shouldn't touch another surface other than a floor.

Ipso facto , anything that doesnt live on the floor , shouldn't touch the floor.
Cross contamination is a HUGE no no.
And they SHOULD know this .
4meAndyou · F
@OogieBoogie And this girl today definitely didn't know it. Plus I saw her mopping the bathroom first, and the bedroom second, so all those bathroom floor germs are on my pillow.

This girl confirmed what you are saying last week. She said none of them are being trained in how to clean a house.
@4meAndyou ewww!
Oh dear!
This is all wrong!

Im a professional cleaner . And to be honest, ive spent hundreds of hours looking stuff up, because even my training was sketchy .
Plus , i have a brother who knows a lot about chemicals.

The stories i have of what some cleaners do are both horrific and funny . And many are truly disgusting .

I do have a word of advice tho .
Cleaners talk . And you dont want to piss off your cleaner 😅

I recommend you Change agencies , and start afresh .
And if you find anything like this again - DONT complain to the cleaner . Just ask for a different one .
Youre paying , you dont have to say why you want a different one.
Coz you dont want to get complained about by your cleaner , and get an unjust reputation as a 'difficult client'.
Coz ive heard some stories of what cleaners will do for revenge. And its not pretty .

You have a right to change your mind on who you want , and have hygienic expectations.
If youre lucky , you might get someone who is OCD - they are the flipping BEST cleaners ever!
4meAndyou · F
@OogieBoogie Wow! Cool! I did have a couple of subs who were OCD, and they were awesome!
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
Get a new helper
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou well try again find someone that understands or a different company
4meAndyou · F
@Havesomefun2 No one wants to work anymore, and I had to wait almost a year for a new cleaning lady because ALL of the services are so short handed.
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou loads of people in England do them type of hub they need more helpers
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Hang on a second! Cleaning lady? 🤔
4meAndyou · F
@Degbeme Well, it's sort of like NOT having one, really, so don't be jealous. And I don't have one at all anymore.

The 1st cleaning lady was always late, did a lousy job cleaning, and usually called in sick every week on my day.

I was having nightmares about her toward the end...where she dashed through my whole apartment in about 10 seconds, wet mopping with a filthy black string mop...🤣🤣🤣

I can't even believe that there is actually someone worse out there, but there is...and I found her! 🤣🤣🤣
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@4meAndyou Just the thought of that mop made me have chills. 😖
bowman81 · M
You are not rude your cleaning lady is incompetent.
4meAndyou · F
@bowman81 Have I told you lately that I wuv you? 🤣🤣🤣
Royrogers · 61-69, M
What is the company called? Loony toons. You are the customer, you are paying the money. Even if she had cleaned the carpet to an inch of it’s life; it is obvious she should put the pillows on the chair. You should not need to come up with reasons.
4meAndyou · F
@Royrogers Thank you. I sure do appreciate the support and the kindness.
SW-User
That happened to me too...
She said she's done with the bedroom. Well, the floor was shiny, but I saw peanuts under the bed. I told her to clean it again.

She didn't argue...

...but she threw me that look, "if looks could kill."

We pay them, they should follow our whims.
Seems to me like you need a new service. Putting pillows on the floor? Make sure she's not using your toothbrush to clean the toilets.
4meAndyou · F
@BizSuitStacy Believe me, I thought about that with my previous cleaning lady.

It is near impossible to find people that want to work, most just want to pretend.
4meAndyou · F
@UnderLockDown I've noticed that. It wouldn't be so awful except I have had substitute cleaners come in from the SAME company quite often, when my first cleaning lady used to call in sick, (which was frequently), and they did such an awesome job that I would call the company with tears in my eyes to thank them for sending me someone SO good!.

This one today wanted to argue about everything and definitely didn't want to work.
Fluffybull · F
Find another company. Or a self-employed, reliable, conscientious cleaner.
4meAndyou · F
@Fluffybull I am thinking of hiring someone private from an online source.
You're not rude.

They are crazy.
And wrong.

@Fluffybull That's the pure truth.
Fluffybull · F
@4meAndyou Find an independent cleaner, get your own mop buckets with matching mop handles. Say, green for kitchen, yellow for general areas, red for bathrooms. Explain you'd like them used in separate areas and the mops cleaned separately, not just dumped in together at the end of the day. 👍
4meAndyou · F
@Fluffybull I now have my own O'Cedar mop which was recommended to me by one of my substitute cleaners because you can use your own cleaning solutions in the refillable solution container.

It sprays a light mist, and depending on the angle you hold the stick, sprays in either a long arc or a very short one. It has three washable cloth covers, and I soak and wash the cover myself in the small washtub with a tide pod and bleach.

I suppose I have been remiss in communicating with the cleaners, but I suppose I thought that if the cleaner started mopping in the kitchen, then mopped the dining and living room, then the bedroom and the bathroom last and flipped the mop head to the second side when it got blackened, that one mop head would be sufficient.
