Only one and that was to end my marriage and walk away.

exexec · 70-79, C
Moving with my family (wife and young son) 800 miles away from our home town to a place where we knew nobody. It was also a great decision.
kodiac · 22-25, M
Turning in one of the people that abused me when i was 10 years old.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
Whether I could really afford to retire early. Not having a reliable paycheck coming in, not old enough to draw Social Security or begin drawing on my IRA yet. But my wife was supportive (said later it had saved my life; that the stress of the job would have killed me before normal retirement) and she still intended to work.
peterlee · M
@dancingtongue Good move though.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@peterlee Absolutely. Turns out my employer discovered they needed me more than I needed them, so kept hiring me as a consultant on projects. I got to pick and choose the projects, earned just about the same while working about a third the hours, already had the benefits as a retiree. So all I really gave up was the security of a regular paycheck, no safety net.
To leave and be on my own, despite Being told I could never make it
ButterRobot · 51-55, M

ButterRobot · 51-55, M
@Nightwings that sounds about as life changing as it gets.
Nightwings · 31-35, F
@ButterRobot Indeed. It's difficult to determine now whether it was a good ot bad choice, with all the problems the war brought with it, but I will never regret it. Living here has made me a better, wiser person.
Perry1968 · M
