It can seem that way. A lot of people gravitate towards comfortable illusion bc the truth is often uncomfortable and inconvenient. The truth can be hard to face, but it’s what sets you free.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@HumanEarth You have to understand that hating the other side of the political aisle is all these people have. It's how they rationalize in their head that they're intelligent and their failures aren't the fault of their own.
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
@SinlessOnslaught
Just in general, it could be philosophical, spiritual, psychological, practical or even in relationships.
@mindstruggle I wanna hear some Minmin wisdom

Magenta · F
"Most" people? No, I do not. I think some of us are just more quiet about it. But I also do not believe in some self appointed elite special few who 'know' the truth. I don't think anyone knows the exact truth as it is without bias.. People twist the truth and find meaning to fit their own agenda. Much of it is just opinion and fanaticism. There is probably a little truth and a little falseness on both sides, all the way around.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Magenta That's why, as distasteful as it is, we need to consider stories from all the news networks, even the ones we think are just absolutely BS.
Magenta · F
@LordShadowfire Indeed. That's being truly open minded and receptive, not just having a steel strap mind stuck in a thought tunnel.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Perspectives are interesting things, because one perspective's of reality is another's fantasy.

It's when the vast majority agree, that reality is even approached.

50/50 ±5 isn't reality.

There is no consensus on reality or truth when one is constantly fighting the other. It tantamounts to a M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) mentality.
Punxi · F
Most folks prefer to live by time ...when it's an illusion. Clock time, one thing. Psychological time is another. Livin' in the past...this happened to me .that. Whatever. Or in the future. I gotta get married, finish school, have a baby...and THEN I'll be happy.

The past is a memory in your head. The future is anticipation. Once the future gets here ..it's called Right Now.

Right Now. It's all there is. Your entire life happens right now.
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
Not exactly! I’m just tired of the stress of hearing about it and seeing it everywhere. I want my boring old life back!
calicuz · 56-60, M
@tobynshorty

Same, I wish I could take the "Black Pill," and go back to my old life.
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
@calicuz black pill? Send me a few🤭
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
Most no, some yes! We all aren't sheep and cult members.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AngelUnforgiven You are...
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@LordShadowfire no my ankle grabbing friend you have me confused
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AngelUnforgiven You're right. I was thinking of someone else with a similar themed avatar. Sorry.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
No.

Some will accept any rubbish they are told if it makes them feel happier or meets their prejudices; and even become quite aggressive if shown their belief is rubbish.

Most people do not want lies or illusions.

However, the question is vague and impossible to answer sensibly, because it uses
the lies and the illusion
- [my underlining] so the definite article without defining anyhting.
Iwillwait · M
As a whole, yes.
Convivial · 26-30, F
The fact that enough people voted for Trump to get him elected would indicate that's a yes
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
A lot of them yes that's why they actually believed Big Orange gives a damn about us as people he does not he sees himself as a king. And wants a kingdom. Also people have bought into the lies of World Peace through iron fisted dictatorship communism and stalinism was a lie and still is.
JackHoff · 46-50, M
Think there was a line in a movie that says, you cant handle the truth.
I’m certain of it, here.
Pfuzylogic · M
I think something clicked after a million people died during covid. Some pretend that it never happened. .
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Everyone likes to hear the comforting words
calicuz · 56-60, M
Yes, and the likes of MAGA prove the lies and illusions are preferred to the uncomfortable truth.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@calicuz it's a strawman you came up with, and has nothing to do wirh what I said
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Rolexeo

You mentioned "denial of reality" in your comment. I was giving you an example of the extreme right's, MAGA's, denial of reality in the Obama election.
My comment had everything to do with your comment.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@calicuz I've never seen any claim he didnt, I have seen the left say Trump cheated
1490wayb · 56-60, M
even truth can be twisted and distorted
Comfort and convenience will win for most humans
In Western society, outside of your political left.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I see this is another post by one of those antivax nut jobs. The most recent thing they posted on their own account was some BS about COVID vaccines causing cancer.

I feel like @SW-Questions is being abused the way we used to abuse anonymous posting on Yahoo Answers.
Achelois · F
People accept the reality they are presented with,

Confined · 56-60, M
Once you realize all news is Fake, you will start to see the truth. Its all propaganda.
Achelois · F
@Confined

All of it and everything else.
HumanEarth · F
Yes, the mass public are nothing but sheep. They do as their told, believe everything the media tells them, and take every pill and vaccine the doctor says.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout They like the idea of it more than the thing itself, like with most things
