Would you have a child in todays world ?

People ask me, why I wouldn’t want children. To be honest, I wouldn’t want to bring my child into a world like this. I would love to have a mini me but, the world is not the same anymore. You can’t find real happiness anymore. Increase of cost of living, ridiculous! By the time they grow up and become adults. The world would be run by robots. There would be no jobs. Crime rate is getting worse by day. I wouldn’t want my kids to suffer. Would you ?

That’s a mainstream excuse , and also very pessimistic. How about we become better parents and break the cycle of abuse that so many generations before us endured? That way we can create humans with less traumas, humans who know how to socialize and respect other people, thus making the future world a better place. But whatever your reason is, your decision should be respected. Not everyone is set for parenthood.
KK4817 · 26-30, F
@deadteddy like that’s ever going to happen
deadteddy · 26-30, F
@KK4817 Only if we ever try.

@deadteddy Good answer.
Both of my kids are well into adulthood, so I really don't have a dog in this fight.

However, I totally agree with you. Between insurance companies denials, inflation, stagnant wages, the ever increasing cost of living and all the other random crap in the World.... It really makes you wonder about having kids.

And never mind the statistic that says it costs 375K to raise a child to 18 in a middle-class family.....

I think, and this is MY unpopular opinion, that anyone even considering bringing a child into the world right now, as things stand, is coldly considering an act of cruelty.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@Deceased Why? So you don't want anyone to have children now? Are you saying nobody should have children ever whilever the present situation as you see it exists?
Deceased · M
@zonavar68 as I said, just my opinion. I am not obligated to justify my opinion. You don't have to like it or agree with it.
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
No. We should take better care of the people that already exists and give homes to orphans.
@Queendragonfly Smart ❤️

If you are looking for a mini me then maybe you are making the right decision. Children will have their own interests and talents and should not be used as a way for adults to succeed by proxy

I did, for better or for worse. I love my daughter so I don’t regret it. There will always be challenges; I don’t know what the future will be like but I will do everything I can to prepare her for it.
darkmere1983 · 46-50, M
not a chance, the world is too fucked now, and i never wanted a kid anyways.
random1232 · 26-30, M
the next generation is coming whether we personally have children or not. if our fear is that the upcoming decades will be inhospitable for future life, then that means the real problem is not the issue of whether we should be having kids of our own, but creating a future that is sustainable and happy for us and the next generations.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Yes I would. The world hasn't changed that much at all
MrGomco · 36-40, M
No I will not, for the same reason!
I wouldnt just because I never wanted to be a dad but also I dont see that the world really needs more people. If anything it needs less people.
NickC · 31-35, M
A much needed question! No! Never! not because i cannot handle them but having witnessed of what some of my relatives went through with their children, I don't have the confidence of raising a good child for this society. Healthy kids who suddenly fall sick, happy kids who suddenly commit suicide, kids that go missing, bullied at school and on internet and the worst part is it is very very complicated to understand them.
If i had the space and the money i would .. adopt 200 kids or more..
@SStarfish ❤️❤️
I can understand someone not wanting to have kids.
2brandon2 · 18-21, M
The way that I feel about that is that with good upbringing a child will be fine. You have to be more proactive then what parents were in the past. I want to have kids when i gat older and I want to carry on the Family name
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
No but for different reasons. I don't think the world has changed for worse that much, just specific countries maybe. There are places you could go where it looks like it's been the same for the past 30-40 years.
pride49 · 31-35, M
I try to make my 3 year old nephew emotionally stable. And let my older nephew know the dangers of false information. And that YouTube, isn't always right lol

Yes, absolutely. I want to have kids that will adapt into the future. Kids are that part of life that makes it whole for me. I don’t want to go home to an empty house with just maybe a partner that can leave me at any time. From your logic of life getting harder, maybe humans shouldn’t exist anymore? I want to raise strong and intelligent kids that will thrive in a new era like humans have been doing for thousands of years.
@SW-User Good luck

The world is a shit place because of government
1490wayb · 56-60, M
NO WAY!! too much a financial burden and very high risk of a mental\physical disability than in the past
KK4817 · 26-30, F
@1490wayb you haven’t got kids, at your age 😂
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
There will be no shortage of employment as the ranks of the elderly economically inactive continue to swell. Inequality between the gwnerations is alarming and will have to be redressed through a general redistribution of wealth. And we should all be ashamed of the environmental mess we have bequeathed to our successors.

If you don't want to bring a child into an unhappy world, perhaps consider adopting a less fortunate one who has already been born and making their life a little happier 🙂
I've never liked this world enough to bring others here
@metaldog You sound like me.

No way the last thing this world needs is another human, especially from me

I don't want to have kids, not because of todays world.
Allelse · 36-40, M
I wouldn't have a child in any world.
There's so much to be on guard for. The age old dangers still exist, plus a host of new challenges.
I'd be watching them like a hawk, that's for sure.
Fluffybull · F
I never wanted to have children. But I can see how people who may have wanted them would think twice the way the world is going .....😥
Blondily · F
I wouldn't have kids nowadays. I already raised a daughter so if she has any I will be there for them.
Agreed. Totally. I knew that many years ago and I have ZERO regrets.
Hey at my age, no kids coming into this world. Lol
No, if it were even an option for me now, I wouldn’t. Things are too awful now and I’d be afraid how they would fare if something happened to me.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
If you don't there wont be a tomorrow
If I were your age, no I would not.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
Yes, and I do, and I'm proud that I do.
