What helps you experience a deep, satisfying sleep?

Chamomile tea? Soothing music? Menthol chest rub? A shot of alcohol?
A day with lots of exercise, hot shower, clean sheets and blankets in a comfortable bed. And a hot drink (like a toddy or sake) helps.

Hot bath an hour or two before and add a couple hand fulls of Epsom salts into the bath water, at least 30 minutes soak. Drink a hot cup of Sleepytime or chamomile or lemon verbena tea with a spoonful of honey in it. Lay down with a book or something till you get drowsy and sleep.

I have tried any number of things to try to sleep. A deep, satisfying one seems to be a random occurrence.
For many years, a shot of whiskey (or two). Now retired, I have no set alarm and knowing that is all I need.
Eating about 3 hours before bed, a couple of wines, reading, good company!!
