What would you do if your family found out you’re gay?

Would they be cool with it?

I couldn't care less what my side of the family thinks. I am no longer in contact with them. My partner's family knows and are 100% supportive of us.

@Cigarguy101 *couldn't care less

My parents made it clear when I was still a teenager that they would have no problem with that and accept me. I really appreciated that even if I wasn’t ready to tell them anything yet.

@Anthony450 kudos to your parents, i told my children no matter where you end up in life, or whomever you are i life i will support you until my dying breath. I will always support them no matter what. I also told them if they make the wrong decisions and end up behind bars, you know that you were raised to be better. But i will be at that courthouse while you get what you deserve.

@AngelUnforgiven are you and their father on the same 'eavrlength?"
DrWatson · 70-79, M
My niece came out to her parents and both of them unhesitatingly accepted her and her partner (who is now her wife.)

And her father (now deceased) was politically very conservative.

They're not going to find out cuz I'm not gay anyway but if I had kids or whatever I wouldn't be upset with them I would just ask that day respect certain boundaries of decency in front of the rest of the family but other than that it does not bother me but two people do in their own life behind their bedroom doors

My ex-girlfriend is gay and when she came out years ago she was accepted by her sister and later on her mom. Even though her dad loves her, he will probably never accept the fact she's LGBT.
BigImo · 26-30, F
They've known since I was 7 so I think they'd be okay with it if they somehow found out again. Plus they're all LGBT themselves
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
What could you do? Its out there now. Either they accept me for who i am and love me unconditionally or i walk out of their lives and go and live my truth without them!
À member of my family came out recently and was accepted and supported by everyone.

The older generation didn't take it well when I came out as bi, so I don't see them taking it well when I come out as a (mostly) gay transman
GoldenOldie · 31-35, M
@LordBarbossa The older generation are losing their grip (especially the conservatives) Trumps a T-Rex before the asteroid hits! The future will be brighter and kinder my friend 🫂

@GoldenOldie We're not even american, and my mom was young when she had me (19 y/o) but the gap is too real

It is nobodies business but yours. Just smile and nod and let them figure it out for themselves.
