Is it ok for the police to use a car to kill a cow?

If the cow was an imminent risk to life then yes. Cows do kill and seriously injure people. In this particular case the cow was a calf I believe and it seemed to be at night so the streets would be quieter. It's being investigated by the independent police complaints commission now and the Home Secretary is also demanding answers.

It hasn't died (yet) and, as the Police Commisioner has advised, it would be best not to speculate while enquiries are ongoing. It was an unusual and potentially dangerous situation with a young cow running loose in a built up suburb. British police do not routinely carry firearms or tranquiliser darts.

You gotta figure, if a deer, weighing a couple of hundred pounds, can seriously mess up a car, a cow would not be good for it either.

Send for a vet with a tranquilizer gun

What if someone chased you and ran you over with a car? How would that feel to you? Where is the humanity? Round it up. Then take it elsewhere. You don't need to be a cowboy to do this. Christ.

I'm sure they have more suitable weapons than a vehicle. They have armories and qualify on guns.

Explain destroying a vehicle when one bullet would do the job.
