SCOTUS Overturns Bump stock Ban

US Supreme Court lifts ban on gun bump stocks.
Vote was 6-3.
You can guess who supported the ban and who did not.

Don't worry, they'll still allow thoughts and prayers for the dead.
@ChipmunkErnie Now that there’s sure to be more of them, it’s the least they could do.
The very least. 😞

Oh joy. I feel so much safer and freer, now.

Former president Trump's administration imposing this ban, and he personally approving it, is one of the few things he did that I could applaud. Even the NRA expressed support for it at the time, and the Supreme Court declined to block the regulation in 2019. Gee, I wonder what changed.

@BizSuitStacy Bump stocks have no inherent value for firearms, they're nothing more than a novelty item.

This is very sad. Get ready for more thoughts and prayers for the coming dead. Why doesn't the Court just approve the use of machine guns for anyone and get it over with? That's what they want.

What’s a scotus again?

It sounds like something a pharmacy might give you a cream for.

@Morvoren supreme court of the usa

@lpthehermit Oh that old thing.
Yes...those who support the majority opinion are literate. The dissenters are not.

Even more interesting is the statement that unelected bureucrats can not change law

Yea Hurray, go for it SCOTUS. ...

Id think it should be state by state.
@jehova That is how you arrive at the situation in which we currently find ourselves. Americans are able to purchase weaponry in more permissive states, then smuggle it into the states with the tighter restrictions. Only a nationwide standard can help us.

@CorvusBlackthorne even then its easily circumvented by the internet.

They’re getting ready in case Trump loses.

I can think of six good reasons why the president should be able to remove Supreme Court justices.

But then the Republicans would start doing the same sһit.
@LordShadowfire Right. And the GOP would remove someone because of something a relative did. 🙄
@LordShadowfire The justices should just have term limits, like the president. They should get a four year term, then whoever the president is can either keep them or replace them.

i'm not being flippant, but congress does have the authority to amend the law making bump stock equal to automatic. just need a consensus. i don't always side with SCOTUS but in this case ATF over stepped 🤷‍♂️
@tenente How did the ATF overstep?
Theyitis · 36-40, M
@tenente In this era of polarization and hyper partisanship we’re never going to get a consensus. We can’t even get a consensus on whether or not to have lunch, much less what to eat.
I'm surprised because they have no inherent practical value on firearms.
