True or False, ICE is independant of NYPD?

I keep getting different reports, some saying it's only 200 people who were detained by ICE. Some saying it's in the thousands and they get deported to countries that arent their home. It's so confusing to me, and the NYPD keeps implying on the news that they aren't connected to ICE bur i'm not sure what to believe.

Reading the many, often opposing, posts on here, the situation looks so confused I would not be surprised if even the authorities don't know the real numbers.

ICE and local police forces are probably independent of each other officially, but I cannot know what if any co-operation there is between them.

True. ICE is a Federal agency with jurisdiction throughout the country.

The NYPD is the local police force whose authority is only the city of New York.

Around 70,000 people have been detained by ICE.
It was 200 Venezuelans that were deported to El Salvador.
And the NYPD doesn't coordinate with ICE.

I’d imagine the answer is ice collect a federal paycheck. The cops get a city pay check. They can and should work together. But you know… the woke blue cities.. they not going to lift a finger to help remove their voting block

Deportations are up like 15% from the previous admin.. apparently.
15% of what exactly. I don’t think anyone knows..
