My most viewed post is literally a stupid joke from a stupid movie

So as far as I'm concerned, humanity can die out. There's no point in saving you people. Someone can pour their heart out, yet you're more interested in a dumb little gif.

I seriously don't understand how some of you can live with being so useless to the rest of your species. You'd rather do nothing than to help someone who needs it.

If you're offended, then I'm talking about you. Go ahead, let the blocks roll in. You're doing me a favor

You're angry at us for your failure to be entertaining?
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@SW-User I'm not angry. I've been to enough places to realize stupidity is unavoidable. I'm just more disappointed in people's inability to care about anything beyond themselves.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
don't that just beat all. The best part is even if one is just looking for entertainment here the most entertaining posts are the ones that are like personal stories. 3 men walk into a bar is just like 15 seconds of mediocre humor at best, if their mind is stimulated by that then they must have the IQ of a slug
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand I'm particularly set off by memes being used as a substitute for insight, when really it's a superficial caricature of the idea it's trying to represent.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@TinyViolins half the time not even applying

Most of us are here to run away from our own life and problems and gravitate to the more frivolous stuff.
SW-User
@TinyViolins Well, it's not like they don't have to face reality at some point. This is a little escape where people choose to focus on what they want and gather enough energy to go back out there to fight another day. It's nothing personal. Most people are concerned with their own lives.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@SW-User What's the point of having a community if everyone is just looking out for themselves?
SW-User
@TinyViolins I don't think most view it that way. If you look at most of the complaints here you'll notice many people are here for the fun stuff and nothing else. You might be able to find one or two people you genuinely connect with but that's pretty much it.
CestManan · 46-50, F
Certain people get most of the attention on here. Like most of us get a few responses to our posts but then a few get like sh*t tons. ONLY because they are cute.

Keep in mind that the collective intelligence here is embarrassingly low.

I think a lot of people on here, including myself, feel your frustration.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@CestManan Yeah, I've gotten way more support than I thought I would for calling it out. It's nice to see I'm not the only one craving depth in their interactions.

Still, the responses here are pretty divided, and it's interesting to see people's motivations for coming here. Some come here looking for a place to belong, and some come here looking to be entertained. One mindset craves to express itself, while the other seeks to be impressed on.

It's a little dejecting, but I guess it's nice seeing where people stand on this approach to our online connections.

Yep. Adolescent children in adult bodies. It's repulsive.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@SW-User It's one thing to find joy in life, but there's something repugnant about those who find their joy at the expense of other people.

It's like they never learned how to be human
Magenta · F
Vapid mindlessness is exhausting. Cheap thrills and entertainment is all the minds of many seem stimulated by.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@Magenta Social media has ruined us. We're so used to seeing information constantly flowing in front of our eyes that many can't seem to focus on anything.

They're just floating through the world ineptly while the rest of us try to put in the work of healing wounds, solving problems, and creating better ways of life for those of us brought down by life's unfairness
pride49 · 31-35, M
If the things people write aren't eloquent and concise. I'm less likely to respond. And people only care if you pay them.
Torsten · 36-40, M
People are not here to listen to your problems. Some will for sure though but dont act as if people here owe you anything.
QueenOfZaun · 26-30, F
Hold the few who see your heart.

Let the rest rot.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@QueenOfZaun Wiser words have probably never been spoken
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
Heavy negativity from a social media participant. Self loathing projected outward.
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
j@TinyViolins Here is a little "meh" for you.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@FlowersNButterflies Christ, you really are a sanctimonious halfwit.

You said you weren't interested in fighting, yet here you are with petty barbs. You said you were gonna block if I responded, yet you can't bring yourself to stay away.

Nothing but hollow words from a hollow person. Acting as if your holier-than-thou attitude can mask your petulance.

Tell you what, if you're too insolent to actually mean what you say and block me, just let me know. I'll do the job for you

I feel this way too
pedrohedgerow · 61-69, M
When someone pours their heart out, it's a personal thing, and many who are here to forget their own shit, probably dont want to be reminded of their own problems or heartache.

I never know what to say. If a heart isnt enough, then say so.
@TinyViolins Of course. But sometimes just an acknowledgement is enough. I dunno. I dont share too much personal stuff because I hate fake sympathy and pity. But Ive always been like that.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@V00doo It's enough for you, perhaps. But we all find ways of justifying things so we could sleep at night, right? Sometimes that means running from our own feelings
@TinyViolins I guess so.

Couldn't said it better than myself!

I don't know what it is but I just seem to see the good

I see the people falling over themselves to give warmth to the girl threatening suicide for the twentieth time

I see empathy and compassion when someone is sick or down

I see genuine care

Sure, for some, it isn't always the bulk of responses or replies on this site

But we all know that it only takes that one response that resonates and makes us feel seen and heard - that makes all the difference
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@SW-User The 'Mute' button is the lifeline you never knew you needed. Weed out the chronically moronic and you're going to see a lot more thought put into the content you see.

I've gotten a lot more comfortable coming to this site knowing I can ignore the people with nothing to really contribute
LordShadowfire · 46-50
That's why I left Twitter about a decade ago. I made one stupid joke that was more popular than all my thoughtful posts.
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@LordShadowfire It's so dehumanizing. To realize people will happily look right through you if there was something mildly amusing on the other side.
