It is incredibly expensive.
I wasn't aware that people were deciding to keep their lifeless limbs.
I can understand someone who is paralyzed from the waste down, but I've never seen people leave their dead body parts attached to them. 🤔
I wonder how that would work... does the blood still circulate throughout the whole limb? Only way it'd still be viable to keep around... otherwise I imagine it'd rot and fall off on its own.

True. I was talking in terms of limbs where there is circulation, but for some reason they are paralyzed and can not be used.

@VomitingWords Just because a limb is rendered unusable doesn't mean it's dead. it just means the nerves and muscles are no longer active. Blood will continue to circulate as long as the heart is still beating and the arteries aren't blocked or severed.

Because of the money

Good point. I’d say that wouldn’t be an issue in countries with socialized medicine, but you probably wouldn’t get good prosthetics through such a system anyways,

Lots of reasons, where the nerve endings are, how dangerous the operation is.
In Britain we have the NHS but the prosthetic limbs they give out can be incredibly uncomfortable and many amputees don't wear them.

Quite true. Very few have access to the top drawer stuff I suppose.

Sometimes their bodies are not strong enough for the surgery. A lot of complications can happen.
