Spent all night at the emergency room.

My wife was having symptoms of a possible oncoming stroke. As this was happening a few months after she experienced a TIA (a "mini-stroke") we rushed to the ER, and got there a little before 8 PM.

It was the craziest, busiest, I have ever seen that place!

After an EKG, a Cat Scan, an MRI, and blood tests everything looked OK. She will wear a monitor for while to keep track of her heart beat and has scheduled an appointment with a neurologist.

We got back home a little before 7 AM!

Oh my gosh!!! You both must have been terrified! Let's hope and pray that it turns out to be something un-serious. I will be saying prayers for her! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 AND for you...because you must be scared.

That has happened to me twice now. The first time was after a car accident where I was rear ended...and the right side of my face sagged down.

Since my tests were all negative for stroke, they decided it was a symptom of a visual migraine.
For a while there, I joked around that I could go into the hospital for an a$$ ache and the doctors there would tell me it was a visual migraine! 🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou Thank you! I am now going to research visual migraines.

@DrWatson I will tell you that facial sagging on one side, and a "perception" that your eyes are crossed, when they are not actually crossed were two of the symptoms I experienced. Also vertigo.
Oh my goodness, what a scary and exhausting experience! I'm so relieved to hear that your wife's test results came back okay. It's great that you acted quickly and got her to the ER promptly. That's exactly what you should have done, especially given her history with the TIA.

It sounds like the hospital was chaotic, but I'm glad the medical team was able to give her the attention and testing she needed. The monitor and follow-up appointment with the neurologist should provide more insight and peace of mind.

Please take care of yourself too - supporting a loved one through a health crisis can be draining. Make sure you get some rest and prioritize your own well-being as well.

I hope your wife continues to recover and that you both get some much-needed rest. Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers! ❤️🌹 Hugs to you both. Tell her I said, "I hope you feel better and get well soon! I'm keeping you in my prayers."

I'm sorry, that must have been scary ☹️ glad she is ok
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
@DrWatson my Mom had the same thing last year 🫤
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@MyNameIsHurl My mom had a stroke at age 92. Both my wife and I were very aware of that throughout all of this.

I am sorry to hear about your Mom. Is she OK now?
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
@DrWatson yeah, she had the same thing, a mini stroke. She needs to take better care of herself I feel like. She's almost 70
Scary. I hope she’ll be okay. 😔
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Colonelmustardseed Thank you. It looks as if she will be.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Oh my, hope she's okay. Been to the ER for myself, my wife, and our kid -- never a happy time, always a lot of worrying involved. On the bright side, they let her come home.

Oh no! Scary for you both!
Sending you a big hug. I do hope your wife is feeling a bit better now xx
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@RubySoo Thank you, Ruby! She is feeling a little better, and she feels relieved to know it was not a stroke and to know there is a plan going forward!

I saw your post about COVID. Take care of yourself!

How terrifying!
My hub woke me up around midnight several months ago and told me he was having a heart attack. We later found out it was acid indigestion of all things. Its crazy the symptoms you might get thinking its something very serious. I hope your wife will be ok too!
I'm glad everything is ok and I hope it stays that way. My husband had an ischemic stroke a year ago so I know how scary that can be.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@midnightrose Thank you! Is your husband ok?
@DrWatson Yes, thankfully. He had weeks of intensive therapy afterwards. He had to relearn to walk, feed himself, talk, write, etc. He's come a long way.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@midnightrose That is fantastic.

My mother had a stroke at age 92, and she lived for 4 more years, but paralyzed to a great degree.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
I hope shes ok? Lots of love to you both.
Hope you manage to get the answers that you need x keep pushing and making calls. Dont let them push you aside
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Gangstress She is feeling a bit better and has an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow.

Thank you for your well wishes 🙂

So glad to hear that her tests came out okay, and I have no trouble imagining how scary it must have been for both of you. I realize the worry about why she had those symptoms isn't over yet. 😕

My dad had several TIA's over the years, after part of his heart died when he was 58. Every time, he'd say to the paramedics and or emergency doctors..."I think my daughter is overreacting".
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
So sorry, i hope she's ok
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Lilliesandlight She's doing better now. Thanks!
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F

DrWatson · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard She is a little better, but relieved to know she did not have a stroke. We'll see what this heart monitor reveals.

Thanks.🤗
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I am so sorry this happened. I am so glad she’s doing okay and could go home with a monitor.
