It's my dirty little secret.

None of my real life friends know about this site, at least i think they don't and I wouldn't tell them about my account if they did.
I have Facebook but it's a mix of one upmanship, showing off and worst of all, virtue signalling so I use it mainly for hiking and photography groups, although it's a great way to keep in touch with those who iId never see otherwise.
To me, Similar Worlds is a way to be myself without sharing stuff with the rest of the town, I feel I can be myself on here without being judged .
If I want to talk to people in real life I'd rather bypass Fakebook and pick the phone up or go out and socialise.

SW and EP definitely played the role of a secret place separate from the pressures and people of the real world. But i think I compartmentalize my life way too much and that sometimes I forget I'm a mix of so many things because I have to pretend I'm not 95% of the time.
It feels like SW has just become another extension of that so it's almost part of the problem rather than a wonderful escape like it used to be. 🤷‍♀

It seems that way yes. I don’t use other social media, this place is different. I have already met some great people, but I can also see the negatives.. my requests are filled with vulgar messages, who messages random people stuff like that without knowing them? It’s strange but I guess that life online.

Years ago, when I was about 20, a friend of mine came up with what he called "The Gang Of 300 Theory". On the surface it's nuts - there's actually only 300 people in the world and the rest are numerous variations of those - but how many of us haven't met somebody who reminds us of another person in our past? The danger being that we then attribute that new person with other traits.... The friend who said it is somebody I met in primary school when we six, and although we've lived on different continents for nearly 45 years we are still mates.

I spend maybe to much time here and i am always hoping to meet some people that i can spend some time talking to. I do find i can talk to someone for a few hours and then they move on to someone else and ignore me. Alot say they want to talk but dont. I wont tell anyone i am here its my place of hope and unwind

I talk to some folks on here more than I talk to people I know in the "real" world. I think about those people on SW more than the people I actually see and speak to regularly.

I enjoy this site...but it is hard to keep up with my friendships and not give offense due to my occasional absences.

I feel like I can be my true self here, it’s nice.

I use it a lot, but I don’t get many responses. It’s pretty useless and empty. I use Facebook a lot as well and I have joined groups of all sorts and there’s always a lot of people commenting.
