Is SW like your secret club to go to from the outside world?

The world is a small and large place at the same time.
In your smaller world you can be surrounded by people who know you well, but can't possibly hear every word you have inside. This might not be intentional, it can simply be that you speak a different language and they just don't connect with you on the same level, you need to seek out other conversations from time to time.

Some might think social sites are a huge waste of time, a sign our world is becoming one continuous loop of social media, one more way of distancing ourselves. But I like SW and even if what I post isn't that interesting to some at least I can express myself and share something.
What about you?

None of my real life friends know about this site, at least i think they don't and I wouldn't tell them about my account if they did.
I have Facebook but it's a mix of one upmanship, showing off and worst of all, virtue signalling so I use it mainly for hiking and photography groups, although it's a great way to keep in touch with those who iId never see otherwise.
To me, Similar Worlds is a way to be myself without sharing stuff with the rest of the town, I feel I can be myself on here without being judged .
If I want to talk to people in real life I'd rather bypass Fakebook and pick the phone up or go out and socialise.

Years ago, when I was about 20, a friend of mine came up with what he called "The Gang Of 300 Theory". On the surface it's nuts - there's actually only 300 people in the world and the rest are numerous variations of those - but how many of us haven't met somebody who reminds us of another person in our past? The danger being that we then attribute that new person with other traits.... The friend who said it is somebody I met in primary school when we six, and although we've lived on different continents for nearly 45 years we are still mates.

I talk to some folks on here more than I talk to people I know in the "real" world. I think about those people on SW more than the people I actually see and speak to regularly.
I told my sister Christine I'm on here her response was
"oh dear lord Aly, but it does seem to suit you, I can imagine all the silly memes you must share"

Yes I do. I mostly publish my poems here. 😃

I think of this place like the movie fight club.

@Bignakedguy and the first rule...

@Pretzel You do not talk about fight club! 🧼🥊

Or in this case

You do not talk about SW!
Pretzel · 70-79, M
@Bignakedguy what's SW?

This place is pretty much my only socialization

I'd probably like for it to be, but right now, it's nowhere near that.

It's my personal secret world.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
It keeps me relatively sane.

It's my dirty little secret.
