EP was so awesome, I've actually developed lifelong friendships with about 8 people from there. SW was ok at the begining, but the connection is lacking. I've taken a good break from it, and only check in once or twice a month now. Real life is what's important and taking care of yourself mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually is a vital thing. I wish you well

I feel like a digital nomad because all my life I've jumped from one closed down site to another. It started with a bunch of niche iPhone ones as a child in like 2006, then Ask.com, then EP, now here. I miss a lot of people I've met over the years. One in particular, I would love to check on today. I hope she's okay.

Not sure whats wrong with the site that people announce they have to take a break from it. What is so bad and toxic about this site when it just mainly about questions and writingg your own experiences. Unless your pming and getting yourself in a situation im not sure why people get upset.

I’ve tried that and you just have to accept that the times are changing and so are the (contestants) 💁🏼‍♂🤦🏼‍♂.
Still many good people around. Just have to dig a little deeper for them and use the block button more, thats what it’s for, to enhance your experience 😀

Correct SW is no EP. While it has some of the same members who migrated it's definitely not the same neighborhood. The feed doesn't help with connections and so called forum groups and algorithm settings are a joke. They had the idea to grab users but the organization and execution is a disaster.
It's easy to understand any previous EP user losing interest.

SW Just misses the mark.... I can't put my finger on it exactly.... Maybe it's a lot of little things that individual niggle but they add up to a naggle.... For me the site is bity.... Questions don't seem to have a pricise home... Stories are lost.... Groups are confusing.... The list goes on..... I reduced my time on SW..... And drop in now and again...for me that works at the moment

I know how you feel. I came here after Yahoo Answers went downhill (even before it closed), and I can't seem to foster the same sort of community from here as I did on Yahoo Answers. Yahoo Answers was just...built differently, at least for me. There may be a combination of nostalgia and bias at play, but yeah. That's how I feel.

I liked EP and made some good connections there - but it's a long time ago now, and I suspect that the lives of many former members changed. The world has changed in the near 10 years since EP closed - not necessarily for the better.

It isn't SW that's changed it's our culture. There is a lot of unrest now, fear, hate uncertainty that weren't there in the days of EP. The whole western world is going through a tough time.

I've done that in the past. I've gone away for a few weeks, but I'm still here. However...It doesn't do to spend too much time just scrolling here or anywhere else. There is an 'opportunity cost' - you could be doing something else.

I keep thinking this too, I’ve taken alot of breaks from here in the past. But there are a few people that I don’t want to leave.

Yeah, even the cliquesters seem to be leaving lately.

Too many algorithms and what not in place. It's like even the people we interact with the most do not show up in our feeds.

It like everything else its what you put into it. Ask questions block no one or only when necessary. provide support advice and understanding the rest is automatic.

I completely agree with you. I am not on here anywhere near as much as I use to be. SW has definitely gone way down hill. ☹

I agree 100 percent, things here are not like they used to be. The change to the feed really messed things up among other things..
