Mansions are too expensive to maintain. The cost of insurance by the ocean is nuts. Property taxes are through the roof. It takes multiple heating systems. We’ve replaced three in the last five years. Ever get a quote to paint a large Victorian? It’s f’ing nuts.
With no mortgage and rental income you still really can’t break even over time. We just sold ours last month. Not missing it tbh.
We used to get some good April Fools in the automotive industry here. One from Lexus (in the days of the LS400) was using the headlamps as projectors to view movies on the back of vans etc. when you are stuck in traffic. There were, however, technical difficulties 'with those garish stripes on police vehicles'. Another one was BMW's 'Oven Cam',that allowed you to see how the contents of your oven at home were cooking, all from the infotainment system.
