Why are people so mean on here ?

I just mentioned my son in a question people laughed at me and judge me for being 27 having a 14 year old son. I forgot to mention he's my STEP SON. I married his mom I guess that makes him my son now. What's the big deal with being judgemental about it lots of teens have kids my son's mother was a teen mom she had him at 17. I guess I should have added more details even though the question wasn't really about my family also he calls me dad a lot more than his own father. I didn't think people would laugh and be so mean. My wife's not gonna be happy about this she'll be a Karen when she hears about this site. Why are people so mean and judgemental on here ?

I've been wondering that myself. I had to block a couple of trolls yesterday. One of them was borderline racist.

PS My oldest sister Karen had her daughters at 17 and 18, so I refuse to hear anything negative about teen mothers.

If someone is being mean to ME on SW, I just block them. I've had more than enough abuse in my life already, and I come here to interact, think about new things, laugh, and have a little fun. SW is a venue that gives all of us the opportunity to create a personalized website...one that does NOT have to be populated by mean people.

Because SW is a microcosm of society where unfortunately people are mean and judgmental. Sometimes even more so because of the anonymity SW offers.

It isn't just here. Think of it as if you are driving in your car, following closely behind the car in front of you. The guy behind you hates that you are going so slow, he hates staring at the tail end of your car, and he doesn't look at you as if you were a human at all, just an annoying thing in front of him, so he pulls into the right lane, zooms up and cuts you off while you lay on the horn.
Then he slams on his brakes.
That is what this site is like, and most others where you mingle with the general public.

Look at news sites comments, or anywhere people can post anonymous, you will find them being the mean-spirited villains they tell themselves they are not. Once you lose face to face, actual emotions and humanity, empathy, they just lose sight they are talking to a real person who has feelings.

Even if you were his father, what you express says you are there. Now why are people so mean and judgmental?

One of the unfortunate things about online social media is a possibility of what you shared. To those that judge you they don't care, to them you're just a username. Narcissistic type this can be a playground. It's best to block, I don't know if reporting does any good on here or not. Be the stepdad he deserves, and I imagine/ hope you will, that's all that matters in the end.

I didn't see comments to the post but I think it's normal to be surprised when someone in your age bracket talks about a 14 year old son. It's pretty uncommon in most societies to have kids that early. Of course, it's nobody's business and nothing to laugh about.

Theres a bigger age gap in some of my own family members i dont see the big deal. Idk just block those ppl. Ive blocked quite a few.....for various reasons. Ppl who only post sex stuff, super religious in your face ppl, serial killer profiles. Yep. Block them.

Im on ur side plus i made a sperm donation at 7 years old im 35 soon. My oldest offspring is 28. So whats the big deal? I just cant safely date anyone under 30.
