Do people actually login to sw from pc?

I feel like that is something only john olinger does 🧐
AdaXI · 41-45, T
Why on earth would I use a tiny phone when I got a full sized computer sat in front of me? Just to type 'Hi' cause that's about as much conversation you get outta people on phones using a 'virtual' keyboard. I mean I got a full sized keyboard and can type around 80 words a minute without breaking a sweat. Just a waste of my time and everyone else's using a phone having to watch flipping adverts and stuff.

Next you'll be telling me you enjoy watching all the adverts on you tube and similar worlds cause you just enjoy torturing yourself never mind all the virtual keyboard spelling typos, LOLZ!

Honestly you guys just crack me up using phones at work instead of concentrating on what you should be doing walking around with your face in them 24/7 and then go home and use them hahahaha, JEEZUS, WTF! Wait until you get home login to a full sized computer and have a real conversation with people it's not that hard really.

I mean smartphones are the death of the internet, no surprise people rarely blog anymore, when they just handicapping themselves for no reason whatever site they are using LMAO.🤣

@AdaXI I am only having a laugh as well, I mean I know smart devices are more convenient in many ways, if you just wanna pop on and off a site during the day so is what is, whatever suits you best really. Myself sat at home I'll whack the laptop on cause it's just easier to do more stuff online at the same time I like a concentrated block of online activity with 30-40 tabs open and stuff, lolz.

@AdaXI There was for several months, scaffolding on the front of a shop opposite one my favourite town-centre cafes; in a day-time pedestrian-only street.

The scaffolding occupied the width of the pavement but the poles were padded and yellow-taped.

[ Excuse me a moment while I scroll that ghastly, frenetic, utterly meaningless, fit-inducing video up off the 21-inch monitor... That's better. ]

I would sit people-watching from the cafe, noticing that perhaps a third of the passers-by were utterly absorbed in umpteen-G portable radio-telephones they were too terrified to switch off. Or had forgotten how. Mine would be off and in my pocket - safely too, not hip-pocket thief-bait - or much more likely, left even more safely back at home.

You can guess what I was also watching for, but perhaps their so-called "smart"-'phones had built-in radar or metal-detector, for I never saw it actually happen....
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@AdaXI I don't have a "smart"-'phone, just a basic one; but I use a PC for all my Internet use. Naturally, because I also need a proper computer, keyboard, monitor and printer for the more serious uses such as 'Word'. 'Excel' and CAD.

And for ease in finding and printing things like bus and rail timetables - this will shock some of the radio-telephone addicts, but when out and about a printed document is usually the far quicker and easier method, and is not subject to flat batteries or weak signal coverage!.

PC allows me to see more than a stupid phone would and I find it easier to navigate and type.
My phone just isn't a computer, no matter how hard some try to make it be!
As others have pointed out, I can accomplish other things while on computer.
@SW-User The OP said that her phone was not going to be a computer, and typical "smart" phones leave a lot to be desired.

Purism has the *same* OS in its the phones as in the laptops.

It also has a video-out display port.

So that allows a person to take her phone, get to work, use a display, and take that computer/phone home, plug into another display. To me, that means it's a lot better than many phones at actually coming *very* close to a desktop experience.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SomeMichGuy more and more smartphones are replacing "computers." When I wanted to buy a new desktop, I didn't have the kind of choices I would have liked. So many things now force you to use a mobile app.
@samueltyler2 Fry's electronics going out of business didn't help, either.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
lol i am using pc right now.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
Just this moment opened a window in chrome and done just that.

I'm old school I acknowledge - "Boomer" as my son points out constantly
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Yes- why not?

I don't know who John Olinger is or was - a Wikipedia search proved rather inconclusive and uninformative - but perhaps that's why I don't see what you are asking.

SW is not the only web-site or software many of us use; and for many users including me, a PC is the most appropriate instrument for our purposes.
AdaXI · 41-45, T
@ArishMell John O is a user on here he asks the ''would you do them?'' questions.

ArishMell · 70-79, M
@AdaXI Ah, OK! Thankyou! I think it's an adopted name here, but I don't know the origin.
Magenta · F
I do it nearly every time I log in.
The experience is so much better than thumbs on some little 6 inch screen.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Magenta the "experience?" 😈
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I do, I actually use phones for what they were designed for...making calls/talking...
SW-User
Damn sure do. My phone isn't attached to me like an appendage.
It's used for it's purpose - to make calls or text if need be. Who wants to interact on a tiny screen. Talk about DEvolving.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@SW-User exactly
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@SW-User I use my phone more than needed to play with apps but rarely ever turn wifi on. Texting, using emojis, sharing pictures and switching between tabs is incredibly annoying on a phone. Not to mention I don't have adblock on it so everything is infected with ads.
SW-User
@CrazyMusicLover
Texting, using emojis, sharing pictures and switching between tabs is incredibly annoying on a phone.
Incredibly annoying for sure.
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
The thought of someone logging into sw and staring at their computer screen is incredibly depressing
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@LostOrchid 😭😭😭 poor grandma, she just wants to be loved 🤪
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Lilliesandlight no where near as depressing as all the iphone zombies wandering around staring at their phones, oblivious to reality... 🤔

Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@wildbill83 iphone zombies, lol
exexec · 61-69, C
Yes, so I can check it while I'm doing other things on the PC in my home office.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@exexec Indeed - in fact I go further. One or the other.

When I am using a serious application best served by full PC facilities, like 'Word', 'Excel' or the CAD programme I am trying to learn, that is what is open.

Anything else including SW, is closed. I see SW as just for fun: relaxation when I am not doing anything creative.
Most of the time, I use my laptop.
It’s easier that way, just switching tabs with other work screens.
Keeper · M
I do. But I don't do it in order "to do so and so"

(plus I have three screens at work)
I almost always do. I use my phone only when I'm out.
LostOrchid · F
@PhoenixPhail dios míoooo 😦
@LostOrchid It's so much better for me. I like using a full-sized keyboard. I can't stand those little buttons on my phone keypad.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
All the time. I don`t do any internet stuff on my phone.
DDonde · 31-35, M
I do.
I use this place about 50-50 phone/pc
I often have it up on a different tab while I do other stuff
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@DDonde Exactly the same here and I hardly ever log off. I actually never learned to open new tabs on my phone and can't add gifs or videos. Whenever I use android for browsing I feel like one of my hands is missing. 😆
DDonde · 31-35, M
@CrazyMusicLover yeah navigating tabs in mobile browsers is a pain
NeoNeo · 41-45, M
LostOrchid · F
@NeoNeo damnnnn dudeee 😐
calicuz · 51-55, M
Yes, while i'm on my phone right now, i prefer to use a computer.
It's easier to type on a PC for me.
What do you think of him and would you do him?
LostOrchid · F
@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart he reminds me of clay face from harley quinn 😶
@LostOrchid wow. That’s actually really mean
LostOrchid · F
@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart they both love celeberty people i do not see nothing wrong about it 😅🤷‍♀️
Redstar · 36-40, M
Yeah... why are you asking as if it's such a bizarre concept?
Pretzel · 61-69, M
I prefer using my laptop - like typing from a keyboard.
4meAndyou · F
Just not used to real luxury, are you? 🤣🤣🤣
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
🤣 I hate using my phone for SW. It's incredibly clumsy.
TexChik · F
I do when I’m working.
WillaKissing · 56-60
I have zero cell phone service over my farm where I live, so yes, I use a desk top computer to be here silly. I am damn sure not driving 12 to 16 miles or more down the road to log into this site on my phone in my vehicle. The heck with that noise.
bowman81 · M
I do, on my laptop.
LostOrchid · F
Ok ok i get it 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
I used to to write longer stories on the pc but my work laptop blocks the site and my personal laptop is more or less dead.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Starcrossed Can you write the story in 'Word' and transfer it as a text-file to some other instrument? (Without of course, breaking company rules!)
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@ArishMell I usually write it as an email draft then copy/paste while on my cell.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Starcrossed Ah, I see. Yes - if it works use it!
robb65 · 56-60, M
Desktop PC with a CRT monitor (it's an old "Gateway"). Monitor is on its last leg and occasionally I have to slap it around a bit to straighten out the picture the way we did TV's back in the old days.
i do. not use phones/pads for this
I do not use a windows machine
what is left?
SW lags sometimes. Maybe it's my dial up service? 😔
TeirdalinFirefall · 31-35, M
I only log into SW from my PC. lol
InHeaven · F
Sometimes I do
LostOrchid · F
@InHeaven 👀
SW-User
Yes my laptop
SW-User
I never do that
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
I log into SW from my laptop. It makes it easier to copypasta funny images like these!

Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
Only my phone. I dont have a computer
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I do, but I am old.
kodiac · 22-25, M
Yes,i don't have a phone🤷‍♂️
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
I do, yup. 🤔
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
I have done but that was years ago when I did not have a smartphone
When working on my laptop, it's much faster than going back and forth to my phone.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I have never logged in from anything but my phone
SW-User
Laptop is the only way I log in
empanadas · 31-35, M
lmao im not even joking, first time in years i logged on with my laptop and i see this post. this is a sign to use my phone
LostOrchid · F
@empanadas that is just ..weird 🤣
