I haven’t read the comments below yet, but I can give you a few pieces of advice:
- first, it’s an anonymous social media site. You have to adjust your expectations accordingly.
- second, many of the so-called conservatives attacking liberals are bottom feeding trolls who have miserable lives
- third, there are quite a few so-called liberals here who have also lost their minds.

Just be you. If you get attacked, just stuck to your guns and don’t take the attacks too seriously. Pity the person who cannot be civil.

Liberalism enable wealth disparity by opposing the kinds of massive social reforms we'd need to eliminate poverty, and it enables systemic racism by empowering corporations to treat black and brown workers unfairly with near-impunity.

While I sort of sympathize, consider the fact that trashing liberals is really at the core of what passes for Conservatives these days and that the people calling you names, hurling ad hominem attacks and using whatabouts because they can't or don't want to honestly address a point are actually discussing their views as best they can.

Fox, the tea party, and Trumpism have pretty dumbed down American Conservatism to the point where it has few principles and none more important than "us vs them and they're bad."

Add that to the nature of SW as an anonymous come spew what's on your mind site, and what you've described is hardly surprising.

Case in point, Where do liberals come up with They're insane ideas Like, Requiring voter ID's will disenfranchise African American voters. I do something at least once a month that requires a photo ID, I mean how do they function in society without one ?

I believe it has to do with liberals who are elected public officials. Whether it's in congress, or a mayor or governor, and during the 4 years that Trump was president, some of those people went full force crazy, mostly in the things they said. There were some private citizens who might have supported what those public officials were saying, and I believe it's like a default umbrella now. Where if you are X and someone else who is X says Y, then it automatically means you also support Y.

The way I see it is, everyone is their own person. Me and Bob might be X, but if Bob says YYZ and YYZ isn't good to be saying or thinking, just because I might be X doesn't mean I have the same beliefs as Bob. I might support QRS.

I think it's wrong to assume you have the same beliefs and vision as others just because of your political affiliation. But, it all started with the people at the top in D.C., and in the media.

I've quit voicing a lot of my views or thoughts.
A lot of people sure seem to hate...on both sides. And many put all into neat little packages with labels.

We trash liberals because They accuse the right of doing everything reprehensible They have been doing for years !

Liberal has become synonymous with evil, supporting abortion and sexual immorality, homosexuality, taking of guns to cripple the people and leave us undefended from criminals, both in government and on the street

The GQP has been taught catchwords and phrases to insult any Liberal, any reasonable person. Right now the Republicans are desperately fighting the truth. If you dare tell the truth in the Republican Party you will be punished. The trolls on this site will repeat crazy conspiracies just to piss off liberals.

The more I see of this place, the less inclined I am to post anything on any subject. If you don't get outright attacked for your opinions, someone sure as Hell will post a mockery of what you've said.

This morning, someone flagged one of my reponses to a joke as "nudity" and all I said was that the joke was a sad one -- meaning that it's pathetic. Had nothing to do with nudity!

I fondly remember the days when a Republican and Democratic senator could sit side by side in a television interview, discuss an issue from two different points of view, but clearly demonstrate that they actually liked each other.

It seems that those days are gone. We have become so polarized.

It goes along pretty well with their "Dear Leader", he calls people names so they follow right along with him. He is incapable of civilized debate and so are they for the most part. I suspect the comments you are getting are from hard core tRumpists and not from the average Republican. It appears to be the nature of things at the moment sadly.

It's a two way street. It's just as bad from the other side. It's by design. If we every teamed up we would have the power to actually get to the root of the problems we face (powerful people who use politics as a weapon to get or keep power).

Equally, conservatives are frequently trashed here. It’s a shame either way. It would be nice to have calm and friendly political arguments, but not many people seem to be up for that. Of course some people, on both sides, ask for what they get!

That's sadly what's being preached by the conservative news. (Which I'm a conservative, but realize it's just different viewpoints and demonizing just makes everything worse).

It's actually quite sad that the extreme right is accepting cancel culture while protesting against it... but they blaming the left extreme for doing the same thing they are.

Both extremes should be rejected as nonsense at this point and get back to fundamentals and the Constitution as well as trying to limit the debt which no recent president has even half attempted.
