What is with the trashing of liberals on here? Seriously.

Some people act as if all liberals are evil and unpatriotic by default. As someone who has mostly liberals views herself, it has become frustrating, because I feel like I can't even discuss my views on here without being judged. I am really sick of it.

Liberalism enable wealth disparity by opposing the kinds of massive social reforms we'd need to eliminate poverty, and it enables systemic racism by empowering corporations to treat black and brown workers unfairly with near-impunity.

@BlueVeins The only wealth distribution that comes from liberalism is transferring money from the productive sector (private) to the non productive (government). The poor are even poorer as the result. If you doubt me look at the homeless situation and find out if the city is liberal or not.

@hippyjoe1955 Funny for you to call the public sector "non-productive" on a platform that was largely pioneered by said government. In any case, liberalism sets the stage for upward wealth transfer through corporate hierarchies by supporting the free market.

As for that last point, 95 of the 100 counties with the lowest median income are Republican-leaning. That's not to say Republicanism necessarily causes that because that's a stupid argument. My point is that this stereotype of liberal cities being poorer (presumably than conservative ones) isn't accurate. Obviously when we get into reasons why, there are confounding variables and reverse causation, to a point where the argument isn't even really worth having.

@BlueVeins Funny how you never work with the poor and have no idea how badly governmet performs in lifting people out of poverty. Nice try though. Noble thoughts and all. Just wrong on every point.

@hippyjoe1955 I literally do work with the poor, and yeah, the gov't is pretty good at helping poor people when it's designed well. I mean, the three countries with the most social mobility -- which is supposed to be part of the American dream -- are Denmark, Norway, and Finland, all of which have much, much stronger social safety nets than the US. Going down the list, the first real conservative nation is Slovenia at #13, and even they're not as fiscally conservative as the US.

@BlueVeins Let me guess you are a government employee. Too funny. I run a non profit helping people get off the street. I won't allow the government to interfere since I see the damage they do all the time. Huge bureaucracies and no results. Lot so paperwork though.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@hippyjoe1955 I actually am not, I volunteer for impoverished folks.

@hippyjoe1955 I volunteer in association with the public school system, so I guess that's a government thing. And yeah, lots of paperwork, but it's to protect reasonable safety interests and I've seen great results so far.
