Tried to sue, but lost because we were married at the time

Another time economy stock market, bad investment

Pretzel · 70-79, M Best Comment
yes

but according to my calculations I will have to die next Tuesday BEFORE lunch
swirlie · 31-35
@Pretzel
Thanks for the heads up. I'll go gas-up the hearse while the price of gas is down.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
So far, but I'm getting nervous about what it's going to cost when my wife finally has to go into a memory care unit.
Monalisasmith86 · 41-45, F
@ChipmunkErnie where do you live there should be cost effective places there like governmental places and they are good ones not poorly treated places
exexec · 70-79, C
I hope so, since we are retired.
swirlie · 31-35
@exexec
Oh, that's good news! I'll be right over! Just call me the kid who moved back home to reside in your basement and live off Dad's pension plan! I could use a new car too, btw... just sayin'...
good post...you just reminded me to check my lottery ticket from last night's draw........doh! still going to work tomorrow 😥
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@beermeplease Keep buying those tickets! One day the stars, the universe, and your wildly optimistic choices might just align.
Ive invested in the future of the eco system and renewable resources. So im looking forward to see them mature when im ready to retire.
I coulda prob but i sold my btc at 16k :(
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@TryingtoLava I hope you've saved the amount after selling it. You've time on your side, and I am pretty sure you will retire early.
@Unlearn o i broke even back then :( i had .8 of one! Ugh im so mad cuz no i prob wont retire in this economy
Yes. Plus, if anything needs replacing - except for a home, maybe - there's money for it.
How much is enough?
swirlie · 31-35
@KentuckyWildcats
Then why did you answer the OP by asking "How much is enough"?

It would appear that you already know the answer to his question but you didn't answer him like you did already know.
@swirlie Does a yone know if they really have enough? The greatest fear of aging seniors is outliving their money. With my standard of living, should I need an assisted living facility later in life, I would expect 12-15K per month. Save for inflation and that will wipe out life savings fairly quickly should you live a longer than normal life.
swirlie · 31-35
@KentuckyWildcats
Great answer! You made some very informative points. Thanks for that!
Kiesel · 56-60, M
Not to my comfort level, no
Working on it aggressively
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@Kiesel I hear you.
FoxyQueen · 51-55, F
What is re.....tier....ment....?
FoxyQueen · 51-55, F
@Unlearn it was satire lol
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@FoxyQueen Phew! For a moment there, I thought you'd be grinding away into your 60s and 70s!
FoxyQueen · 51-55, F
@Unlearn oh no... I'll be working till I die.
Bri89 · 36-40, M
When I get old enough to "retire," the concept of retirement won't even exist.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@Bri89 The goal should be to be rich enough to retire, not old enough to retire.
Bri89 · 36-40, M
@Unlearn I see. Well, we shall see.
@Bri89 saaammeee
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
No, but I'm on track. At least until a recession wipes out my portfolio.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@ViciDraco That's the time to average. Assuming you live in a country with a growing equity market.
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
@swirlie American retirement plans (401K) are generally invested in the stock market, yes. Pensions are largely a thing of the past here. And even real estate can crash.
swirlie · 31-35
@ViciDraco
That's amazing to read. I never knew that pension plans are largely a thing of the past in the USA and I never knew that the US had experienced real estate crashes before. Those are both new ones in the real world for me!
Monalisasmith86 · 41-45, F
I don’t retire if I finished I start again if they allow me to
KatyO83 · 41-45, F
Only if it's a short frugal illness free one
MarineBob · 56-60, M
After football season it'll be covered
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@MarineBob how?
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@Unlearn it's my busy time and most of everything I need is already paid for
swirlie · 31-35
No, but I think my federal government did.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@swirlie That's a pretty decent safety net.
swirlie · 31-35
@Unlearn
Yeah, I think so too! I live in Canada and we've always had that part covered.
