What food(s) have you opted to cut out completely?

And why?
BlueVeins · 22-25
Soda because it's very bad for the teeth, very sugary, and devoid of any kind of nutritional benefits. I've given up all animal products except for sessile bivalves because animal products tend to be environmentally unsustainable, harmful to animals, and prone to dangerous contamination.
SW-User
@BlueVeins Yeah soda is one thing I'm glad I was able to cut out completely and it wasn't even that hard to do. Replaced it with milk.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@BlueVeins fairly low. I purchase most of animal products from local farms.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@JoeyFoxx I'm glad you do that, that's a hell of a lot better than grocery store stuff. I've yet to see a way to raise cattle in particular that's really environmentally sustainable. Like grass-feed cows are often praised bc they don't use up crops as feed, but they produce more methane than grain-fed cows. I think you can grow chickens on forage, but I kinda doubt many people do that. IDK though, I guess I'd have to visit the farm.
Lilymoon · F
I try to limit junk food and sugar. Not completely, but cut right back.
Lilymoon · F
@SW-User it's a struggle. 🤭
SW-User
@SW-User [c=4C0073]wait .. have they changed the mandatory red colour when replying?
can you choose a colour now or is it fixed at that odd colour?[/c]
SW-User
@SW-User The few times I've noticed it on my end the colour was changed automatically.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Fast food. The stuff belongs in a science lab. Real food is better and I know it is wholesome.
SW-User
@Crazywaterspring Much agreed.
Iwillwait · M
Red meat, although I dream't last night I had a bite of a Mc Donald's cheeseburger. 😞
SW-User
@Iwillwait Woud you label it a nightmare?😂
Iwillwait · M
@SW-User Kinda. I mean nothing was right in that dream.
MiserableAtBest · 18-21, F
Well I didn’t choose to, but I can’t eat any shellfish because I’m deathly allergic 🥳
SW-User
Potatoes, pasta 😔
Fluffybull · F
@SW-User Same here! Too starchy, full of carbs! 😱
SW-User
@SW-User I am having a hard time, I luv my potatoes.
SW-User
@Fluffybull I know 🙁
anything unkosher
Processed sugar, most junk food. Not good for diabetics.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
sugar and because it's the only thing that i eat that keeps me from being healthy
TexChik · F
@DeluxedEdition sugar is the devil !!!😉👍🏻
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@TexChik yup, you'd be surprised at all of the diabetics you see in american healthcare. people lose legs, toes, feeling in their limbs. i want to take care of my body now
TexChik · F
@DeluxedEdition Yes its horrible. Smart girl!
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
Junk food, processed food, stuff high in sugar or sodium. Why, you may ask? I'm not getting any younger 🤷🏾‍♂️.
SW-User
@SubstantialKick
Why, you may ask? I'm not getting any younger
Harsh reality for us all
SW-User
[c=4C0073]i have eliminated white sugar from all my food and beverage intake ..
also cut down on carbs a bit[/c]
forty7seventy4 · 46-50, F
Spicy food, it's not worth the heartburn/acid reflux.
SW-User
@forty7seventy4 Oh certainly. That used to bother me at night. Glad I made some changes, haven't dealt with acid reflux in a while.
forty7seventy4 · 46-50, F
@SW-User That's wonderful, it can be a real pain in the ass. I take medication so I haven't had it in a very long time myself.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Anything with gluten in it
Pork

Velveeta and other highly-processed cheese
Any food with artificial butter flavoring

SW-User
@cherokeepatti That's plenty.
tenente · 100+, M
@SW-User @cherokeepatti probably easier to list things you will eat(?) 🤔
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@tenente It sucks not being able to eat bread and other wheat products, that’s a huge amount of foods I have to avoid. Foods with breading and desserts, breads, pastas etc unless I buy gluten-free stuff to make it myself. The gluten-free bread at the supermarkets is nasty.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
Watermelon. It's disgusting.
SW-User
@MURD3RM0NK3Y Sorry but we can't be friends no more.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
Sugar, white rice, white bread, pasta because I'm type-2 diabetic, I have to cut out sugar and simple carbs.

Beef - it's bad for the planet and not a good choice for those over 50 years old. Too much fat and high in purines (uric acid).
SW-User
SW-User
@SW-User Excellent idea. I never I could ever give up soda but I've been off the stuff for a bit now.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
I’ve never been to a Taco Bell.
I’ve not had a fast food chain hamburger in over 20 years.
There’s an excellent chance I will stop eating cooked red meat in the next few years.
SW-User
@JoeyFoxx
I’ve not had a fast food chain hamburger in over 20 years.
@SW-User 🤣
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Very few, having no reason to do so; though I have always fried with oil not the lard our Mam used to use; and I rarely make gravy.

I have cut down a bit on some for minor medical reasons, but that's all.
Straylight · 31-35, F
Fast food and soft drinks because they’re bad for you and not even that good.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F

iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Carbonated drinks, refined sugars, caffeine and processed foods.

I am on an anti-inflammation diet. Not really diet but a change in eating habits.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@iamonfire696 Somewhat similarly, I have cut down on coffee as it may/i] encourage the acid reflux diagnosed in me. Same with curry.

Just being "carbonated" does not make a drink somehow "bad". That's only dissolved carbon-dioxide, but most carbonated drinks are also very heavily laden with sugar. Indeed, the advertising twaddle cloaks the fact that colas are merely fizzy, flavoured, strong solutions of caramel - roasted sugar.

Also of course, sugar is sugar, refined or not. (Syrup is only sugar plus some of the rest of its original plant sap.)
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@ArishMell I can’t drink carbonated drinks because they upset my stomach. Since I don’t drink them those would include the ones with caffeine and sugar which are bad for you. But thanks for your input.
tenente · 100+, M
Refined sugar. I just hate it. Plus, my stupid father has type two diabetes because he gorges on 50% off pastries from the grocery store - fuck that I don’t want diabetes. There better shit out there. Aside, I don’t subscribe to “never” and “always”. I might have refined sugar in the future, and that’s fine. Guilt is not productive and doesn’t define me. I follow the paleo diet when I can, and when I falter, I don’t give a fuck. I just regroup and go back to the diet. I call it the “fail-eo “ diet. So I ate a potato 🥔 who gives a shit?
