Chicken or the egg.....?

I often hear this question which always leaves me baffled...

Which came first the chicken or the egg.

So i ordered a chicken and an egg from ebay...

There actually is a right answer to that question, it is the egg. Fish were laying eggs for millions of years before chickens evolved. Unless you're a young earth creationist; then God created the chicken first.

@GuyWithOpinions evolution is so gradual that there are not two generations one could look at and say, "this one is not a chicken but this one is." We can tell a modern day chicken from a modern day eagle. But if you could look at all the successive generations not one would stand out as the first chicken.
