What was the first thing you ever saved up money to buy?

I saved up for little things when I was small but the first major purchase was an 85 baby blue ford tempo 🤣

Those are good memories. The first major thing I saved up for was a 2 week vacation in west covina ca at my uncles house when I was 16.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@slorollin Quite a vacation spot!

My neighbor.. when I was a kid. Had a 69 Corvette. Big block engine. 3 carburetors. 4 speed yada yada. He basically let it sit and rot. A fence had fallen on it. Someone had broken a window to release the hood latch and stole the valve covers and air cleaner assembly off it. Told me if I saved up 10 grand I could buy it from him. I was about 12 at the time I think. Started wandering the neighborhood looking for lawns to mow. Picking up aluminum cans to recycle. Odd jobs when and wherever I could. Saved up about 300 bucks before he sold it off to some collector.
AlittleBitGenX · 46-50, F
@icedsky ohh! Were you so sad??
icedsky · 51-55, M
@AlittleBitGenX nahhh...easily sidetracked by the outdoor section at K-Mart. I remember buying a frog spear and some fishing tackle and a BB gun after that.

My first degree. Still had studio student loans,though.

Optimus Prime. He was $20, and my parents absolutely would not buy him for me, so I started collecting pop cans on the side of the road.
AlittleBitGenX · 46-50, F
@LordShadowfire do you still have it?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AlittleBitGenX I don't. I think my mom got rid of it. She decided at some point I was too old for toys. Or I might have played with it too hard. I genuinely don't remember.
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
I was 6 years old. My dad was a general contractor. He made me go to work with him every day that summer. I had to clean out all of his new houses under construction daily. I got paid $1 a day. I saved up $14 and bought a Hot Wheels City. I was so proud of myself.
AlittleBitGenX · 46-50, F
@Musicman Awee love it!
Musicman · 61-69, MVIP
@AlittleBitGenX I wish I still had it, but when I was around 12 my mom packed up a bunch of my toys and donated them. I argued against it, but she was mom. I have always kept everything I've ever owned in fabulous shape so those donated toys looked new.
