What do you do when you're depressed? 🤔

I try to keep myself busy with work for as long as I can. When there's nothing left to do but address my thoughts I do some exercises until I'm too tired to think. Hopefully I'm so exhausted I pass out and wake up to a new day... but, there's times when these mechanisms fail and I have to phone someone for help...

It’s more stubborn now and quiet has become problematic so I drown out my head by keeping a show or audiobook playing all the time and focus on learning something new in my spare moments.

As for me, on my depressing days, I make my coffee, I put on my music and then I start to design and make my collages … I usually find my peace and calm by doing that …

I never know if I'm depressed or just lazy and reckless. If this is depression then it's quite mild.

I tend to drown out my thoughts by watching mindless stuff on television. I get drawn in and lost in what I'm watching. SW is helpful for distractions too, especially posting humorous comments.

There are some good people to chat with here too.

I have various coping mechanisms similar to yours. I have been around so long I know now that the things I want to reject when I’m depressed are the things that will get me out of the hole.

I nap a lot and have different distractions. If needed I vent to my partner or a friend.
I just take extra care of myself. Its part of life. You gotta go with the flow.

It really just depends on where my depression is on the sliding scale at the moment.

I tend to start withdrawing socially. Online games I play with others tend to get replaced with single player games. I stop messaging people. I drag myself through work and isolate myself when done

@SW-User being an introvert at heart means socializing is draining. But also depression is like feeling empty. It's too much to have something draining you when already feeling like you've got nothing left.

@ViciDraco I get that . I'm an introvert too and I feel drained if around too many people ..
Depression makes me feel even more drained because I'm having to fake being ok around others

Im glad you have someone to phone. It's daunting dealing with it on your own.
