Question for coffee drinkers

How do i drink my coffee with less sugar/creamer? 😭 I'm addicted to coffee but i put WAY too much sugar and creamer in it
Like an embarrassing amount

But if i dont i think it tastes bitter and not enjoyable 😭
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
A good cup of coffee, even with nothing in it, shouldn't taste bitter.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@Thinkerbell Yeah...use good beans and cut down on the acorns.
TrashCat · M
Ok...this is easy because I am a coffee junkie. There are two things you can do:

1. Add just a little salt. It cuts the bitterness.
2. Add some ground Chicory

Chicory can be hard to find so try a little salt. What do you have to lose and it does not make your coffee a salty taste. I am seriously not making this up 🙂
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
Use salt not sugar. It will reduce the bitter taste without adding significant calories. Trial and error to suit your taste. Start with adding very little. It should not taste of salt.
TrashCat · M
@KiwiBird excellent! I made the same comment. It actually change my life😃
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@TrashCat I have never had to, but one of my friends did and she used to have three sugars.
TrashCat · M
@KiwiBird 3?! lol. That's almost hummingbird nectar😂
Came here for advice actually .
Coz I was/am kinda in the same boat

Interesting note about people saying add salt , need to try this myself .

Ive been a coffee fiend nearly every day of my life ...literally. (was on a caffine drip after i was born).

I too, add heaps of sugar and creamer, sometimes chocolate as well. Its like my little piece of zen heaven .

Ive tried cutting both out, reducing, suplimenting, and using expensive coffee....but nothing substitutes for my triple shot, 5 sugars and cream deluxe cup of heavenly bliss.🤗

And it just feels like im deliberately depressing myself if i have coffee any other way .

So i chose tea.

Especially peppermint tea. And fresh steeped ginger.

I havent changed the way i have my coffee, but i have less of them now.
And they have become a treat.

I just learnt to incorporate other beverages.

I cant bastardise my coffee.
Its my relgion !
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@OogieBoogie You do bastardise your coffee to the n'th degree. Your religion is flawed. Grind your own beans....I know you love a good Grind. Use the correct temperature in your rainwater....not boiling. I pour hot water into my warm cup first before adding a double shot of Espresso. No milk or sweetner of any kind. But that is me. I drink 10-12 double shots a day. Way too fucking much....but I figure better than Vodka. I am one of those people that can drink a cup at 10pm and fall asleep. Only about 20% of people are so blessed.

Drink your coffee however you want. 🤣
@KiwiBird sweetheart, your level of personal insanity never dissapoints me🤣

I have a lovely old percolator that simmers my grind nice and slow .😜

And i cant help my level of bastardisation😄....its been cultivated over a lifetime .

Plus, i do get a small inner rush pleasure looking at the horror on the baristers face when i order 🤗

I also like how you promote the Queensland Sugarcane Industry and the Tasmanian Dairy Industry you multi-task your coffee. 🤣
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
I had to switch to black when I fasted. What helped me the most was having espressos or getting really good small batch roasted beans.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
Coffee is disgusting. Idk how anyone enjoys it without a truckload of cream and sugar.
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
Try cinnamon. It also lowers your blood sugar
VampireOfDesire · 26-30, M
I oversuggar it too
Im a coffee sugarbabby 😒
Iwillwait · M
I do too. Time to stop all together.
Elessar · 26-30, M
Forget the sugar and add whisky
Gangstress · 41-45, F
I don't drink coffee too much but i had the same with tea. I reduced the sugar a little everyday to half a teeny spoon,i used to be on 4 spoons

Im here for advice about creamer though lol
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@Gangstress Buy a cow or a milking goat

I used to have 1 sugar with my coffee and gradually put less and less in and now you could probably count each grain of sugar I put in, it’s that little
why even bother putting sugar in if you put that little @SW-User
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
Drink it however you want. I used to go to a place where I had to put, like, 20 creamers in my coffee and I did it shamelessly.
chrisCA · M
Try adding turmeric, cocoa powder, or Ceylon cinnamon.
All of those have health benefits.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Whose coffee have you tried? Properly made, it should neither be acidic nor bitter.
Reduce slowly over time. I still enjoy a little cream and sugar in my coffee.
Penny · 46-50, F
have you tried almond milk or stevia packets?
eta- unsweetened almond milk
monellla731 · 46-50, M
start to decrease very slowly
@monellla731 that's whay I'm thinking about. I'll start measuring the quantity of everything i use and slowly decrease it
monellla731 · 46-50, M
@PetalsOfLilac coffee is great you should enjoy it
Khenpal1 · M
Arabica , like mocca or Ethiopian never gets bitter. I drink it plain.
I use cream or half and half with my high foam light roast to temper the bitterness, and a generous but not huge amount of sweetened creamer, then a spot of boiling water to top it off. Four ounces of half and half in a 12oz coffee seems about right - that way the sweet creamer seems to go a long way.

Soy milk 👍. And perhaps honey 🍯

Use a coffee press.
measure the amount of sugar. Little by little, reduce the amount of sugar.
It's much easier to do if someone else makes your coffee. The human brain is a crazy thing.
monellla731 · 46-50, M
just like when people smoke they say they will go cold turkey but not a good idea
@monellla731 it'll be more like when people slowly lower the nicotine amount in vapes to try and stop
monellla731 · 46-50, M
@PetalsOfLilac mentally you are used to it but physically your body needs it
monellla731 · 46-50, M
@PetalsOfLilac i begged my best friend not 2 go cold turkey and he went nuts i told him so
Convivial · 26-30, F
When you say creamer... What actually is that?
And how much is too much sugar?
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I was just curious do u have high blood pressure or get cavities all the time?
Pretzel · 61-69, M
maybe spend money on a really good brand of coffee tha you like?
Pfuzylogic · M
The Navy got me out of that habit.
They just didn’t have any around!
Rocky101 · 51-55, M
Sugar, free cream can taste the difference
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Hmm, you could switch to milk and sweetener.
I did, and I barely notice a difference.
DDonde · 31-35, M
I put in milk or sugar-free creamer. I guess I kind of just got used to it eventually, cause I used to drink a lot of the sugary stuff from Dunkin / Starbucks years ago too.
Lilnonames · F
I was just thinking coffee and homemade peanut butter cookies with cool whip in coffee and on cookies
Lilnonames · F
I cant help u as i do the same. A small cup ten packs sugar ten creamers
