Imagine you’re going on a first date with someone, and they want to go to a Chinese buffet

Kind of an odd first date idea, but you agree anyway. You get there and you guys are getting along. They say they [i]love[/i] Chinese food, but when they return to the table with their food, they have the most odd collection of food from the buffet you can imagine. Like a few pieces of jello, a little pickle from the salad bar, maybe some cantaloupe.
The date goes fine and they’re easy to talk to. Would you go on another date if they asked you? And if your answer is yes, what if they wanted to eat at the Chinese buffet again? And if the answer is [i]still[/i] yes, would you bring up their choice of food?

and no this didn’t happen to me, but I have the giggles over this hypothetical situation

I went to a Japanese restaurant to try sushi but couldn't eat it so I took it home, I heated it up later in the evening and it tasted just like fish...what a con.

Why is a Chinese Buffet a weird first date? Is it the Chinese part? Or the Buffet part?

I was thinking a Buffet would be good because on a first date you don't know what they might like to eat and a buffet gives more options.

Oh, I would of brought up the food choices on the first date. Oh, so that's what you like, what other places has stuff you like, etc etc. And yes, I would want to see if they have the intelligence to realize the food they got wasn't Chinese, despite loving Chinese food and going to a Chinese restaurant.

If the date went well, and you enjoyed yourself, then why not enjoy another?

@Flenflyys I’d just be honest then and we’d do something else. I’ve struggled with anorexia on and off since I was 16 and that combined with my social anxiety… public eating is hard and not something that I can exactly control. Hopefully you’d understand. I have a ton of issues, my friend. Sorry. 😬

A Chinese buffet is an odd choice for a first date, but not a deal breaker. It raises some red flags, but also makes me curious about how this persons mind works.
But if all they are eating is jello and pickles, AND if they consider a Chinese Buffet authentic Chinese cuisine, I’m thinking we don’t have enough in common for a second date.
Unless…we copulated on the first date and it was really really good then…it’s more jello and pickles!

Chinese isn’t a weird first date. Their choice of food isn’t a turn off unless it’s snake, dog, cat or human. I went to Chinese restaurant buffet with my friends once and put chilli sauce on my ice cream. I was mildly horrified but my friends laughed and told me to eat it.

I Love Chinese buffet, I always get the standard fare, and I always get the half hard boiled eggs, some salad, jello, pudding, and some pineapple wedges as well, one of my favorites are the sauteed baby mushrooms, I'm addicted to them.
