Do you have dessert every day or often after your meal?
I’ve been reading posts/comments that some of you have dessert regularly. I’m curious about this because I was raised that we only had dessert on special occasions
Growing up, we did not have dessert regularly after a meal. We would have fruit at the end of supper. But as kids we would get a sweet snack before bed.
As an adult, I have continued the practice of fruit at the end of the meal. I did spend many years snacking on sweets during the day, but I severely cut back because I do not want to become diabetic.
Nowadays, I limit myself to a small treat on Saturday and Sunday, and none for the rest of the week, unless it is a special occasion or we have dinner guests.
I confess that this has been a norm in our family gatherings (normally over the weekend) but at some point I realized how I actually hate eating something sweet right after the meal. I'd wait an hour or two or actually eat something sweet before the lunch but definitely not immediately after like my family does. I'm full and still enjoying the normal food, why would I stuff my stomach with anything extra that I can't even savour properly?
My partner would love a desert or two everyday as we grow lots of rhubarb and fruit. I make a large cake once a week and perhaps one desert. The rest of the time we have fresh fruit.
Growing up the only time I ever had cake was at my birthday. Ice cream the only time I can remember having it was in the summer time when my parent's would make it. Kind of the same with candy the only time I had it was when we went to the movie's.
As an adult I treat myself to dessert after dinner, but I try and make it healthy. Mostly I will have some sort of fruit. Ice cream is a weakness I will not deny in fear of God striking me down with lightening for lying. LOL
Not every day. Sometimes I go through stages where I’m eating it every day. Last week I had fruit with some sugar free chocolate sauce over it nearly everyday with dinner
