I love basil. There are quite a few different kinds. I use fresh basil from my garden. Lol give another kind a try!

@PromiseProtectionProvision yeah maybe fresh basil then, my mum used to love it fresh from the garden too
@Ferise1 Yes. It's yummy with fresh tomato, garlic, mozzarella and a little olive oil. I can't remember the name of the dish, but the basil really makes it phenomenal. My hubby likes it with Italian bread, but I eat it like a salad.

I make basil tincture.
"Basil Tincture is an impressive antioxidative agent that is prepared from the homegrown Basil from the Mayernik Kitchen. Early in the morning when basil is juiciest and at the peak of its chemical content, it is harvested and diligently dried to preserve its signature color, taste, and aroma. Basil is extracted with grain alcohol (50%) for the maintenance of phytochemical equilibrium.
Basil tincture has antioxidant and adaptogenic properties which ultimately makes it anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-arthritic. It can also treat coagulation of blood, fever, diarrhea, loss of appetite, stomach spasms, flatulence, respiratory tract infections, viral infections, bacterial infections, fungal infections, and even nervous system disorders."

Fresh basil? Crush it with salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar and use to to dress fresh tomatoes. The fragrance is very pronounced. The flavour quite spicy.

I love the smell of fresh basil and tomato sauce without basil is unthinkable.

@Notsimilarreally Isn't thyme in the mint family too? It's delightful as a tea too😋
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Notsimilarreally maybe I just have old dried basil, but I never remember liking it

@Ferise1 oh thought you were talking about fresh basil. I agree that dried basil is not typically very strong
