Saw a YouTube video other day of a UK restaurant offering a sandwich which was a piece of fried chicken (like KFC etc) with some cheese and bacon inside a doughnut. The guy making the video reported it was horrible and he'd never have it again. But demonstrates it's not just the USA.
Presumably restaurants need to keep coming up with new things. If a restaurant has some doughnuts some chicken/burgers and some burger fillings it makes sense to say well let's try putting them together. It either it sells or it doesn't.
If people like it then fair enough. If it doesn't sell it'll be off the menu.
Type two is a wake up call. Gone now are burgers, buns, and chips. All I’m left for breakfast is bran. Everything has to be lower, cholesterol has to be lower. So there goes, processed meat, and hard cheese. Fry ups are gone. Sorry omelette. All you are left with is white fish, chicken and a salad. Bye, bye biscuits, just have an apple. Now go for a run.
I don't know that many Americans do that. That's not really a matching flavor profile. And the last time it was tried didn't last too long if I recall. I think it was KFC made a chicken sandwich with donuts
@Morvoren fairground food is a very different story. I think they compete for how bad for you they can be. That's where the "deep fry anything" trend started.
that doesn't really work. when the Earl of Sandwich who was your problem BTW invented the sandwich it was to keep your fingers clean. it needs a couple of slices of Wonder Bread.
