Being a southern gal like I am I often crave comfort food. I never had to cook growing up because my mother enjoyed cooking for her family. I used to hang around the kitchen just to talk to her and I never really knew how much I learned just by being in there with her. This morning I browned me a chuck roast and put all my ingredients in a crock pot and slow cooked it for 8 hours and my gosh it's so tender! However, I burnt my cornbread while I was on the phone so I'll just have to do without. 😂 And too I have a glass of iced sweet tea! Country living at it's finest!
Shake & bake Boneles skinless chicken breasts with potatoes and chives from my garden, a bean, corn, tomato salad with balsamic vinegrette with thyme and mint from my garden and roasted asparagus
That looks delicious! I will probably have the same meal tonight as last night..very thin pork chops, seared, with minced garlic browned in butter, brown sugar carrots, and rice pilaf.
@Bklynbadboy12 I think it would have been, if I could smell or taste things. Since I had that sinus infection,I can chop an onion without being able to smell it, and without crying. I couldn't smell or taste and entire clove of elephant garlic on my pork chops last night. 😭
@cherokeepatti Sam's Club rotisserie chicken is my go to! I bring mine home and bake it some more in the oven because that's the only way my family will eat it.
@PEACH4LIFE I have a glass bowl convection cooker I use to cook it more…it doesn’t use much electricity and doesn’t heat the house. I get a rotisserie chicken every time I go to Sam’s because I can’t buy a raw chicken and cook it for what they sell them for, they are still $4.99 here and they get customers in the door so they keep selling them for that.
I was planning to cook when I got home from my friend's house, but it has been a very long, hard and sweaty day trying to clean up the cat area so it is manageable. I ended up getting the Biggy Bag at Wendy's for dinner and a small lemonade.
@PEACH4LIFE There are other fast foods nearby, but Wendy's always seems more manageable to me. I know it's crazy, but there's a Chik-fil-A on the opposite side of the road, and even a Five Guys...but the Five Guys has no drive thru, and the Chik-fil-A is always mobbed. I tried Wendy's fries for the first time, and they are really not too bad. 😊
Dan has some tomahawk steaks in the smoker as we wait for Alan to get home for dinner. steaks, baked potatoes, corn and apple pi for dessert. could be another hour though
It really stunk. I decided to buy some steak subs so I wouldn't have to cook for the next 4 days, and some deep fried mushrooms because they are awesome....and the steak was like eating cardboard.
I am going to have to fry up some peppers and onions, (some other time), to make them edible. And they were supposed to be pepper steaks. Little teensy tiny dots of pepper here and there. I mean...VERY generous on the steak...but if it is that dry, who cares?
In the meantime, it's not even 6 pm and I am ready to crash. Way too much running around.
@PEACH4LIFE brown it with salt and pepper, in the crock pot with 6tbs of butter, packet of ranch and au jus, some pepperchinis. 8 hours on low. Delicious
@PEACH4LIFE indeed so lovely,, from the small sample.. I have been trying to re create some old southern food,, but more helathy you just CANT really get good greens, without some bacon
@plaguewatcher I went to this one restaurant in Atlanta and I can't think of the name but none of their vegetables were cooked with meat and everything I ate was delicious. They mastered it! I can't cook my vegetables without meat 😂 it tastes horrible!
@Fluffybull it was so good. I'm gonna have the leftovers tomorrow and my neighbor brought me some squash and zucchini out of his garden so I'm gonna steam them with a Vidalia onion.
