Years ago, someone from Japan told me the following.

Some people in Japan would have a horoscope done for their newborn baby (this would be a very different system from the one people use in the West.) If the horoscope predicted a life with bad luck, the parents would give the child a terrible name in the hope that this would "use up" the bad luck and the rest of the kid's life would be happy. So there were adults in Japan walking around with names like Ugly Face.

I imagine this is not so true nowadays, but who knows.

My mom said she encountered someone named Shithead (pronounced SHE tah heed).

My mom also told me that when she was growing up she knew a pair of Downs Syndrome twins whose names were Hub and Hub (rhymes with cube and cub respectively, but spelled the same way in spite of the different pronunciations).

One of my friends in high school told me there was a set of twins at one of the local elementary schools named Lemonjello and Orangejello.

There was one I heard about where the family named the baby Meconium, because the Labor and Delivery staff kept yelling that at her delivery.

I remember comedian Ralphie May named his daughter April June May, and his son August May. Also actor Rob Morrow named his daughter Tu Morrow.

I worked in a NICU for many years, and I’ve seen some doozies !
