How do the single moms do it?

I’m grateful my son got to go to daycare and I had time to clean and look for work. The hard part is looking for a job with no weekends , which is hard as hell, I’m grateful to have the people in my sons daycare even though I gotta pay them for days i work . God this hard, the jobs I come across find my schedule difficult because I need weekends off idk wat to do

My mom has full custody of my 1 year old .. it is hard! .. 1/3 of my check goes to his pampers and food and I take him out every chance I get! I don’t want to get into why she has custody of him but he’s in a safe place and I’m not .. I work two jobs just to take care of me !.. it’s hard!! It really is! I feel your pain !

@SW-User girl don’t wait you so young, try to apply to just take the test without going to the class , if you fail then go to a program but you might get it on beginner’s luck, I got mine in 2019! It took 3 tries the math fucked me up.. don’t wait this the only thing that will help you to get out of those dead end jobs
You need to enlist some help such as daycare or trusted friends or relatives.
You need a break too, that's how you do it. You have your own life.
The more you take care of yourself the more you have to give to your child.
@Dreamland98 Of course you are. Just also take care of yourself, that's the thing.

I did not appreciate nor did I agree with that idiom, or it's a metaphor (cliche maybe by now), which I heard, when my child was very little and I was in school F/T.
And this saying goes something like this:
If you and your baby or child are in an airplane, and there is some problem and the oxygen mask drops down, and there is only one mask: Who do you give it to, yourself or your baby?
I immediately knee-jerk answer, is of course my baby!
And they said, well, okay, but if you faint or whatever, who then will be able to take care of your baby?
Alright. I got what they were trying to convey.
Ideally, we'd share the oxygen (and I have seen it on TV).

But, that metaphor has merit.
If we are depleted we are grumpy and short.
If we give to ourselves, we are better, peaceful and we have more to give to our child.
@zonavar68 I think in Italy they have a break at midday and rest or whatever.
We (N.A.) are a mentality of work like crazy,
not work to enjoy life, but work so you can live, and that's backwards.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I I agree, if we cannot take care of ourselves first how can we care outlet children so sad right@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON
It's a struggle. I'm a single mom to a 5 year old, work full-time and I'm disabled. My mom watches my daughter while I'm at work. It's basically just me because I have sole custody. Because of her age, dating is difficult

It is such a hard job being a single parent out but just keep at it. I know it's difficult and tough but keep looking and keep your ears open. It took me over a year to find a job where the schedule was too my liking. Do you have any help from parents?
Dreamland98 · 31-35, F
@VNess nope , the people at my daycare are nice but they charge me lol.. I’m gonna find a way, thank you for that reminder to keep my ears open , I’m trying to get my hands on anything, it’s hard staying up late nights wondering what I’m gonna do to live comfortably with my kids , I’m confident
Funlov · M
@VNess se you said it not mom you got it right parent 😘
VNess · 31-35, F
@Dreamland98 look for work at home Jobs, they can cut out that day care cost. It's what I did and it gave me the schedule I wanted. Gave me the extra time to spend with my daughter as well. It shouldn't be this hard to live comfortably you know
I worked weekends nights and holidays for years.

@zonavar68 I hope you can get that shared custody in place.. I am so sorry you are going through that. I kind of have to go through this alone because my ex is very aggressive and abusive and does not respect boundaries. It is what it is but I truly hope your situation will get better .
