We have lost three family members in recent years. And yeah, all three of them said the same thing - they did not want some expensive funeral or burial. In all three cases, there was a memorial/private service held instead. Cheaper and more practical.
I know some people buy their plots ahead of time, I would never do that. I have NO desire to know where my final resting place will be. F*ck that. 😬
Though my mom once had a friend who had a plot, he was really excited about it. Ummmm....
I guess our final wishes are a personal choice, different people want different things.
Well like Richard Simmons, he wanted to be buried upside down so his friends could stop by for a cold one.
@goliathtree You really have this planned out well. :D

I’d like a service so I can tell people goodbye (I’d write stuff down beforehand). I’d want anyone that knew about me, no matter how vaguely to use my death for some time off work.
I’m happy for my body to be donated to science as I won’t need it anymore and it would be good to know I’d definitely be dead.
But I don’t want a grave or memorial of any kind.

Yes I have and he got his wish. He has a gravesite though of course.
I don't want some big over done funeral either. Just a simple graveside.

Na. I don't want a traditional funeral either. A party yes. I'm gonna leave the playlist so everyone has to endue my cheesey choices 1 last time. And i'm gonna leave instuctions as to the food...so its like one of my family famous buffets... or 'duvets' as they are known in our house!! It will be like I'm still there!!
Heck.....it sounds great... i might even arrange it before I die so I can be there!! 😂🤣

I don't want one either.
It's a personal decision I think people should respect.

Yes, it's your choice, and I'm sorry for how people can be, generally, and how they've treated you, in particular; it sounds as though there is a lot of pain in that statement.
...I think most of us have no idea how many ppl we have affected in positive ways. People lose touch, and the lack of public white pages makes trying to let someone know how much you meant to them much harder than it ought to be. So, sadly, a death notice is often a point where one CAN touch base.
I just hope that's a very long ways off for you, and that you know you have enriched my life. Thank you.

Nah, screw them .if they didn't care enough when the person was alive, I don't need them to come around crying after she's dead.

Not this guy. No funeral, No stone. Burn me and toss me in the lake out front of the house. You are forgotten within two generations anyway and a stone is something that someone has to maintain or it looks pitiful.

@goliathtree I’m the same.
I have told my kid to chuck my ashes in the sea no expense spared

@SmoKin I tell people that dumping my ashes in the lake in front of the house accomplishes three things:
1. It's where I want to be
2. It's illegal and will be my final act of defiance
3. With the public beach about 1000ft away, eventually I will be swimming between the legs of all the pretty girls.

Chuck me in the local canal, and be done with it.
