True! Whatever happened to customer appreciation?
Nimbus · M
@PatKirby I have experienced bad service in the past but I was surprised for this year to get a better deal than I anticipated.
PatKirby · M
@Nimbus

Didja call 'em up and say you were considering switching to another provider, then they gave in? How'd you work that deal?
Nimbus · M
@PatKirby I did jus that!
I was wary at first but it turned out to be relatively easy :)

shuhak · M
That's Xfinity "to a T"!
On top of jacking up your bill 75% to 150% (per month), they also make existing customers pay to "rent" their required (antiquated) hardware, while new customers get the latest version for free.
shuhak · M
@Gibbon You got a live person??? Wow! I find it next to impossible to get a live person.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@shuhak It's a grueling task. You have to keep saying agent until it finally surrenders. When I get a human I ask for the Solutions Dept. The last time I did this he said how can I help without transferring. I asked and he said he was that Dept. So I'm not sure what to believe. I didn't get any deals just the bit about how good my pkg is. BS.
shuhak · M
@Gibbon Good to know. Thanks.
Nimbus · M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales From my experience I know so.

Sounds like the cable-phone-internet providers here.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti Exactly and same here! :)
PatKirby · M
@cherokeepatti

Sounds exactly like my Spectrum provider's formula. All the other "competitors" do exactly the same thing so there's no escaping this preferred method. I actually looked into this with some lengthy research and discovered that although monopolies are not legal, they get around it by agreeing between themselves (namely between each company) to do this - slowly raise their prices over time after the promotional period expires - then arrive at the prices that bring them the most profit. Just as long as it's on a regional monopoly basis, not a national monopoly. There's no law against that and it's been working for years.

There's no real "competition", it's just an illusion of choice.

My bill for BASIC cable TV goes up at least $2 a year every year I live here, and channels are regularly taken away from Basic and turned into PAY channels.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@Nimbus You, still get the Liverpool FC package
Nimbus · M

In the cable network , it’s all about pushing mobile phones cheaply and increasing the bills of long time customers.
Nimbus · M
@therighttothink50 Exactly and there's nowt wrong with older phones.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
