Yes. I had great parents who taught me what is important in life. They helped me pay for college. They also allowed me to move my young family 800 miles away without making me feel that I was abandoning them.

All my parents gave me was debt, die, and leave with me an 8 yo to raise at 23 🥲 good times!

Thankful, yes! Grateful, yes!
Indebted, no. I inherited anyway. Even their genetics.
You either clear your debts or you go bankrupt. Sometimes emotionally bankrupt!
I took care of both parents, before they passed away for years.
BTW after 18 I went into the military.
Do I owe the military? 🤷🏻♂️

Mine were great - supported me in many ways. I have been happy to pass the same help along to my son...

No. If anything, they should feel indebted to me. I raised their other kids for them.

Absolutely not.
And I do not want my loved ones to feel indebted to me. Life is too short to spend it struggling with unnecessary obligations. They must spend what I have given them in doing what is best for themselves and others .

Indebted? No.
But the more I live in modern society the more I appreciate how they were/the generation they were from and how they raised us kids and the environment we grew up in.

I am indebted to my parents in many many ways, but I don't feel any weight of debt. As a parent, I now understand that the job is to pay it forward to the next generation, and I've been busily doing exactly that.

My parents didn't have a lot to give me,but they did give me life.
My father gave me a love of nature and my mother gave me love for fine arts and history, these are the things they could give me and I am grateful for them.

Yes, definitely, for so many things and ways in which they were there for me. I was eventually in a position to pay them back for what they put towards my college degree. They would never have asked it and were surprised, but when I was able to do it comfortably, I wanted to.

Not financially, No. I'm not out of a rich family, but I'm lucky to be living in a place where we have a good public education system that's funded mostly by taxes, except for textbooks that I had to buy on my own. I had jobs next to studying and also paid my taxes all the way while studying. When I ever bought money from my parents I repaid them everything.
'Mum, yes, definitely. Dad.....what's a dad?

In a way, but I feel more thankful for them than indebted to. Thankful that I was fortunate enough to have such honorable people as my parents, for the values they taught by example, and for all the ways they helped me along the way.

I don't feel we owe our parents anything...they brought us here without our permission. By all means, if they did their parental duties, be nice to them, but it is not obligatory.

Good parents.
I hope that I can always be there for my parents.

I'm glad they 'did the deed' at least that once.

Oh, bigtime.
I could have done without the anxiety, though.

@uncalled4 I understand what anxiety is like unfortunately.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Crimsondrops Both of my parents exhibited considerable evidence of that, so I was doomed lol.
