What do you miss about your grandparents?

I miss my Grampy's humor. He would always say through the years 'Let's get something fancy tonight for dinner... Mcdonalds!!' LOL. Or he would say 'I don't Shiv a Git!!' haha. He would tell me endless stories of when he was a firefighter, and jokes that he used to tell his friends. He would make milkshakes with me when I visited, and give me M&M's as a treat.
I miss my Grandma's little funny lines as well. She was much more quiet than my grandfather. She would make the best meatballs you've EVER had. She was Sicilian and I loved listening to her speak in Italian when she was on the phone with her sister. She always let me pick out something if we went to a nice store. I really miss both of them :( They were my only safe place as a kid.

When i was a small kid i went on a few road trips with my grandparents. My grandpa would sometimes let me sit on his lap and let me hold the wheel like i was driving the van. I would also help cut the grass and work in the garden with him. My grandma was a great cook. Always had the best meals on the holidays. My grandma was always very kind. Together they made the holidays feel special. Without them it just doesnt feel like a family holiday anymore. 😔 i miss them..

Their laughter, their attitudes to life, their cooking, their inventiveness. Their home was the focal point of my entire family. Every birthday, every Christmas it was a big warm house full of happiness and laughter. And now it’s gone.
@WintaTheAngle One of the toughest pills to swallow.

I never knew them. But it's nice to read your experience and others. I took care of elderly for a long time and it kind of filled a spot in my heart for just being around people.of that age ❤️💕

Definitely my grandparents and mom's humor. Irish and German. They were so funny with one liners. I had a great relationship with all of them to the end. We could talk for hours.

Grandma W's quiet, undemonstrative love. Grandpa W's love of baseball and wrestling. Grandma P's great hugs. Grandpa P's outdoor activities on his wilderness farm.

My grandfather would take us out on his pontoon boat. Used to go swimming in the river, made cool glass stuff too. Dead for about 10 years now, but I still miss him.

Their cookie drawer. 🤪

There was this drawer in their kitchen that always had a bag of cookies. I liked to sneak it and take one when nobody was looking.

I felt safe with my grandparents
They feed me,
They never hit me
They understood I wasn't having tics or outbursts or attention
They loved me

Nothing really. ☹️ I didn't know my mom's mother very well and my dad's mother wasn't that nice.

Everything 😭
Especially on my moms side, I was very close to them.

They were characters, and a lot of fun to be around.

That I never knew any of them. 😞

Not even seen them for a brief moment. It was possible for both my grandmothers. I was at least alive then. Yet location made it impossible.
Being the center of Nansy’s universe.

Nansy because when I was little, I couldn’t pronounce Nana so the name stuck.

I was only close to my dad’s mom. She taught me to sew at a very young age and how to make clothes for my Barbie’s and baby dolls. She was the most gentle and loving woman I have ever met and I miss her every day

@Colonelmustardseed They always let me just be. No criticizing like I got endlessly at home. We had fun every visit 🥹
