I don't. I judge myself on my own criteria. If people expect too much of me, thats their fault...not mine
SimplyLogicalDiscipline · 36-40, F
@JacksonBlue I understand it in theory but sometimes it bothers me
In Shloka 35, Chapter 3 (Karma Yoga), Srimad Bhagwat Gita, Lord Krishna says:
sreyan sva-dharmo vigunah
para-dharmat sv-anusthitat
sva-dharme nidhanam sreyah
para-dharmo bhayavahah
Meaning: It says, it is far better to discharge one's prescribed duties (Savdharma), even though they may be faultily, than another's duties. Destruction in the course of performing one's own duty is better than engaging in another's duties, for to follow another's path (paradharma) is dangerous.
Interpretation: The importance of Swadharma in one`s life is clearly stated in the above mentioned verse by the Lord himself but he left the subjective understanding of its meaning to be explored and understood on humans in everyone`s own unique way. While the Krishna puts forward about the conception of Swadharma, it is impossible to understand without understanding the concept of swabhava and dharma. Doing one’s duty as per his inner conscience is a concept well illustrated by the Swadharma. Both the dharma and Swadharma work simultaneously with each other but the linking bridge between them swabhav. According to the traditional views of Bhagwat Gita, swabhava is one’s inner essence which composes his personality.
One should therefore discharge his prescribed duties in full Kåñëa consciousness rather than those prescribed for others. Prescribed duties complement one's psychophysical condition, under the spell of the modes of material nature.

@PhoenixPhail you will have to give me tips 😂
PhoenixPhail · M
@SimplyLogicalDiscipline Just stand your ground in a gentle way by kindly letting people know that you understand their expectations of you, and that you accept them as they are. But that your meeting those expectations isn't where you are. You might ask them if they're willing to reconsider what they're expecting of you. If so, let them know what you're willing to give them of yourself. Meet them on neutral ground. Diplomacy is a friend of negotiation, agreement and adjustment.

@PhoenixPhail I will try to implement, thank you :)

unrealistically..
SimplyLogicalDiscipline · 36-40, F
Just remember that sometimes on God's green earth, it happens because once upon a time, Eve ate an apple, and the knowledge it gave her, made her feel insecure about herself, in the face of the larger realities, of the Life and Universe around her. Probably before her eyes were opened, she had the mind of a baby animal, who only thought of the moment, and what it brought. And Adam, the significant other.
People have unrealistic expectations because they think too much, are influenced by culture and what people think and judge, or are judged too harshly according to the world's standards. Religion says that there is a higher power, namely, God, who governs all things. If we were to consider this, then the world's standards, and what people say becomes less and less significant.
Probably if there is some harsh unreasonable person who is judging you or someone else, unfairly, it helps to understand internally where you are coming from. And to also understand that they are influenced by the works of Evil, which makes the person accost you, and make you question your self-worth.
